Hi, i wanted to add in an m.2 SSD (120gb) into my laptop (Originally comes with only 1TB HDD) but after doing some research, I'm confuse which m.2 ssd to buy and compatible with this laptop. I look around this forum and saw some people suggesting m.2 PCIe (the one with one gap) and while on YouTube, i saw people using m.2 SATA (with 2 gaps). I'm confused.

My laptop just arrived. I look at the m.2 port, and it only has 1 divider.
and I ordered this
Does that means I bought the wrong one and unusable?

To be honest i am not sure. I was reading many threads when i was looking for an ssd too. I remember some people telling that only the intel version of y700 supports both sata and nvme and BUT nvme users experienced low speed results due to thermal throttling. I ended up buying a simple sata m.2 ssd. Post back you results
P.S The divider is not a problem. My ssd also has two "cuts" but works great

great news! the one that i ordered was a sata m.2 ssd too (If i'm not mistaken). Now just have to wait for it to arrive and try it out.
I'm still very confuse with the types of m.2 ssd and the differences. (sata, PCIE, NVME).
