Legion 5 PRO Display Dark Overlay

2021-05-03, 9:02 AM

Hello , I have a Legion 5 pro RTX 3060 Ryzen 5800H 2k 165 Hz and it worked grated until 2 days ago when from the 1/3 to the  2/3 of the screen a darker overlay apered.

I have connected the laptop to an external display and the problem is only present  on the laptop display ( the external one works fine )

I have updated all my driver to the one available on legion site and run diagnostics , they say there is no problem.

I have also acces bios and the overlay is present there too.

Hi DjaDja,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Try loading default settings in BIOS:

Step 1. BIOS Load Default Settings.
- Select the Start Menu, then choose Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. Under Advanced startup, select Restart now. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware settings
:or:
- Press the power button to completely shut down the unit.
- Press the Novo Button - The button can be reached/clicked by an unfolded paperclip or similar.
- Choose the BIOS setup.
- If you do not have a Novo Button, then repeatedly pressing F1 of F2 or Shift + Power button (FN+F1 or F2) on startup will take you to the BIOS.
- Navigate to the EXIT tab
- Press "Load Default Settings"
- Save & Exit changes

Step 2. Check if there has been any automatic updates from Windows in the period the problem appeared:

- How to see the update history with the Settings app
- Open Start menu.
- Go to Settings.
- Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on 'View update history'.

- Do the same for Lenovo Vantage.

- Open Up Vantage and check Update History.

- If there's been any updates that corresponds with the problem appearing, please note them down and post it here on the forums.

Regards

Voithos

Step 1 did not fix the problem for me.

As for updates , i own the laptop for 5 days so i basically did all the updates in short amount of time also i do not have installed Lenovo Vantege ( i can't seem to find it)

Hear are a list of windows updates related :

KB5001391

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 27.20.14028.6002 (2)

I also have to repet that ONLY the laptop screen seems to be affected.

Update , my display is not turning on anymore and I can't connect the external monitor.

I think the laptop has a hardware defect .

I am overall unhappy with the Legion 5 pro and the many problems I have face with it.
