I can understand the problem may be beyond them, not directly their fault. But what they do have a choice with is the standard of customer service and bemusingly have chosen an orwellian approach.

edit: yes it's a 5800h but issues seem to have been about as far back as the zen 1 series.

What an absolute disgrace!

@brokenaimbot seriously, first things first, I would put in an official complaint to Lenovo ASAP just so it's on record.

Not being nosey, and obviously don't answer if it's too much for a public forum, but did you pay via PayPal? If so, open a dispute and provide a copy of the complaint. You have 180 days to open a dispute, so I would do it. PayPal do not mess around and you have all the evidence (and 3 repairs) on your side. If you paid by credit card, contact your provider and do similar. Contact Citizens Advice on as soon as you can too.

This is ridiculous now. I have a 4800H, but which model is not the point. Lenovo have been quick to point the finger to it being user error, and now they won't/can't fix it just because they say they can't reproduce it on demand? The bug/glitch, whatever you want to call it is there for many people. Fact! What was their diagnosis from the previous repairs? Did they just change parts for fun?

Here's a novel idea Lenovo: Stop putting problematic parts in your machines if this is a known issue that technicians don't know how to fix!

But, no! They're just happy to push the latest fancy models with the same issues and to hell with the customer.

Not paypal unfortunately.

I'll look into the complaint thing but if the experience with their other departments is the norm then I don't think it'll come to anything. I honestly just want a refund and get on with my life. I normally avoid conflicts but find myself in one needlessly because a multinational corporation is behaving like a adolescent.

edit: they've changed the mother board 2 twice, usb power port once, 1 ssd and 1 wireless realtek wireless card from the previous 2 repairs.

As others have said before the issue is likely to be ryzen related going back a few generations and possibly beyond their control. Maybe they can't do anything about AMD but they have a choice as to what kind of service they want to provide and they're choosing conflict over a quick resolution. The staff I've spoken to have been polite but it's obvious they're being hamstrung into an impossible situation by someone higher up.

I got the 5800H and 3070 gpu. I got the stuttering too. Happends randomly a few times a day. If I use LatencyMon I can clearly see my laptop has issues after few mins playing a game without getting the stuttering. When my game finally freezes 3-4 secs and I have stuttering, LatencyMon goes of the charts lol....

I still got 1 year left to complete my education. So I can't avoid my laptop yet. I got 4 years warrantee so got time to see if a fix happens in the near future.

Oh wow, 1st Gen Ryzen? That's not very reassuring.

I think it could well then either be the BIOS, or a piece of Lenovo software. Back with Ryzen desktop Chips years ago, there were issues with system lockups related to the microcode in AMD chips and motherboard manufacturers had to issue updates. Given how long it takes Lenovo to do ANYTHING software related (usually they never do), I'd say this will never be fixed.

I think if I were in your situation now, given the context and how useless Lenovo are, I would push for a refund. If not a refund, sell it as is or for parts and either buy one from Dell or Razer or even MSI, or build a SFF budget PC.

Yet another person let down by Lenovo's software side. I'd say they should feel ashamed but they obviously don't care about those who purchase their hardware. Tragic.

Not sure if you have tried this, but it's worth a shot:

https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/amdcleanuputility.exe

After that, download all of the appropriate drivers from AMD, not Lenovo.

I've tried that before, but whenever I try to install drivers from AMD I would get a BSOD (they were correct). The only drivers that work for me are the ones from Lenovo, and they are the only drivers I have installed from Lenovo right now. Everything else was provided by Windows during my last reinstall.

It would be in their best interest to fully refund me too at this point. If I get that laptop back and the issues still persist I'll just end up making more videos about the issue and drawing more attention as this thread grows.

I've checked the AMD forums before and it seems equally bad if not worse somehow since there are no active moderators and AMD don't respond there either. Their marketing campaign has been quite successful with the whole 7nm thing coming out of the blue after a whole decade trailing behind consumers Intel processors. But quite pointless when the firmware doesn't work properly and is abandoned. I guess I'll be blacklisting AMD in future purchases too.

Why you would still want to buy a Lenovo at all after what you've read is baffling to me, but each to their own.

It seems you have made your mind up, so join the club. What could possibly go wrong??
