Okay I am studying CS in university and let me tell you that interrupt latency is a very big deal. No I didn't watch any youtube video btw. The document above is technical in nature and not just snakeoil. If LatencyMon is to be trusted in actually accurately measuring this latency, Interrupt latency is what actually matters for realtime performance, i.e. user interaction and responsiveness of the system. System handles thousands of interrupts per second and a factor of 10-20x increase in average latency will be very bad. I don't know if other laptops are also having the same problem as me, unless somebody verifies. but it seems to me that lenovo motherboards/firmware in general are plagued with latency problems.

Yeah I am also getting good frames but that isn't the only thing that matters.

This is my clip from bf5 running at solid 75fps avg but it isn't a very good experience I can assure you.

I actually tried running battlefield 1 on Linux and it seemed more responsive and fun to play or maybe its placebo who knows.

You said budget laptop, I pointed out the performance capabilities - they're not linked. A bug / software has nothing to do with in-game performance and/or whether the device is considered budget, which this clearly isn't. If you want budget, spend £500 on a laptop and see how far that gets you. I'm not excusing the stuttering, but you can't use that as a basis for laptop components and overall performance.

I have a fan clicking noise when they ramping up, at the official lenovo service they said it's factory behaviour... In other post for the coil whine they said its normal and use a headset to avoid the sound (xd). I think they will solve the stuttering by simply saying "please do not use your device if you getting stutters..."

Hello to everyone. I have the same problem too. My laptop is legion 5 15ach6h with r5 5600h and rtx3060 and I did some reasearches. As mentioned above the problem might be caused by amd and nvidia drivers conflicts when hybrid mode is on. In my case i have such stutters rarely and only when hybrid mode is on. So, yes, i think it's a problem with drivers conflicts.

you're right this is a quite capable machine which is all the more reason I am disappointed in the end result. maybe Lenovo will upgrade the bios to latest AGESA versions.

Okay it looks like some driver is severely hampering the realtime performance of my Laptop. I have been having this laggy, floaty mouse problem for a while now. So I found a software that measures the polling response rate.

Here are the comparisons of the usb mouse polling rate with safe mode on/off. In safemode the variance is between 1010Hz and 990Hz and the mouse feels stable rather than floaty. While in normal boot the frequency varies from 1200hz to 800hz with a random distribution. Playing shooters with this is a pain, hell I can't even click stuff on desktop accurately tbh. Can anyone reproduce this issue? The software I used in link below.

Hi Everyone,

I noticed micro stutters when I bought this machine 6 months ago, I cured mine by installing these https://github.com/AlanFinotty/AAFRealtekMod

I have had this issue before on HP elitebooks but not as bad as on this machine, it appears to be quite common with realtek who basically make garbage drivers..

Good luck

Live long and prosper!

I have tried disabling the AMD power management driver, my usb polling results seem to have improved from that. In case anyone's curious

Disable AMDppm.sys:

  • Open powershell admin

Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Set-Service -Name AmdPPM -StartupType "Disabled" -ErrorAction Stop

  • To revert back:

Set-Service -Name AmdPPM -StartupType "Manual" -ErrorAction Stop

This will prevent the processor from going into low power states, so not very good for battery life.

Hello good people of this community, I have finally managed to solve all problems related to my system sluggishness after updating to windows 11 insider dev build. I'm seeing more fps across all games and my laptop responsiveness has returned to normal. Using my laptop is a joy again.

The stutter came back when I upgraded to windows 11. Noted the only things I changed to enable the upgrade were enabling AMD PSP and secure boot from the bios. I reinstalled windows 10 with AMD PSP and secure boot still on and the random stutters came back. I then turned them off but the stutters and audio pop persisted for a day but appear to have gone since. I'll try installing drivers with these features turned off on my next windows 11 attempt.

AMD PSP seems to be a black box security feature that has a sub OS embedded within and no one outside of AMD has any idea of the full scope of it's activities and capabilities.
