Legion 7 16ACHg6 Bottom RGB strip wont turn off/change color

2021-05-04, 16:18 PM

When using iCue software to change the RGB LED colors, one individual LED on the bottom left does not completely turn off/change color, sometimes has an odd hue, you can tell it is different from the other LEDS.

When iCue is not in use, either app/task killed or uninstalled. The said LED seems to be working fine with the onboard color switching Fn+ space

Anyone got a clue? I've done everything from resetting windows, updating lenovo firmware/software, complete fresh copy of windows etc,

Hey @Jack_Lenovo1, @Juraj_Lenovo , @rickje149, and @Ar,

I just updated to the latest version of iCue (v 4.11.274) that was released today and the lightbar issue seems to be fixed so thanks so much!

Haven't had time to check if it fixed the other issues like battery drain, hotkey problems, etc but regardless, thanks so much for the lightbar fix.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hello @Ar,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Kindly try installing the updated version of the iCue software.

You should be able to download it here: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/icue

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Hi, Im also on a Legion 7 right now and I'm also experiencing the exact same problem in the exact same LED location. I'm inclined to believe that a software/firmware update of via iCue/Vantage caused it as the problem didn't seem to occur when I first got the laptop a few weeks ago.

There are a few others I know on reddit who also has exactly same problem, it is definitely not hardware related because if you do not use iCue, it works fine.

At this point I don't get why lenovo even went with corsair iCue, the lenovo vantage app on legion 5 pro works great, can control rgb and macros way better and more useful. why doesn't the legion7 vantage app do the same...

I honestly don't think there is a need for additional bloatware (latest iCue install approximately 1.7gb +) I mean, it's just to control lighting on this machine..

Apparently the sample that Jarrod's Tech got from Lenovo is having the same issue and he has a much tighter correspondence  to Lenovo than us so hopefully something might come through from that...?

But yeah, in the meantime I've just uninstalled iCue. I was using something similar to the default profile anyways and iCue seems to slaughter battery life.

Hello @Ar,

Sorry for the late reply.

We've raised this internally for investigation.

I'll update the thread when we get new updates.

Regards,

Jack_Lenovo1

Thanks Jack.

in the meantime I'll be uninstalling iCue altogether, it's just way too bloated for just RGB lights.

I really think the keyboard customisation should be on vantage app

I have the same issue aswell.

It appears to be a software issue, yet support keeps telling me its a "possible hardware defect" yet i literally showed a video of it not occuring until i open icue and another support sending me to icue and icue sending me back to lenovo support.

When you completely close the icue software/disable it, every light is turned off, but once you open ICUE, there is a light at a single spot which stays lit until you close icue completely again.

its not the full led strip at the bottom, its a single spot at the front-left side.

The light its color changes to the last seen color on the rainbow wave.

Hi all,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing such symptom on your brand new gaming laptop. As has been pointed out in this discussion, it is very likely that the iCUE software is at fault for the behavior here. I would kindly ask you to please let us know the version of iCUE with which you are experiencing the symptom, that is currently in use on your machine.

In addition, would it be possible to record a short video (uploaded for example on Youtube) to showcase the transition from fully turned on bottom led strip to completely turned off bottom led strip?

@Ar would it be please possible to link the discussion about the symptom from reddit here?

Best regards,
