Legion S7 gen 8 (16APH8) - USBC Hub with PD not charging

My old usbc hub with PD isn't working properly (works on the 7 gen 6 though) and doesn't charge the laptop.

It's a baseus - 7 port hub with 100W PD.

Hooked up to the PD is the Anker 736 Charger Nano 2 via 100W USBC cable, a mouse, and a monitor. Individually, they all work. Monitor to HDMI port works, USBC charging works, and mouse to USBA works, but when connected to the laptop via hub, it's wonky. I verified that the HUB works on my old Legion 7 gen 6 via the back port, so it's not the hub or any of the accessories.

On the Slim 7, I tested both the USB4 port and USB3.2 gen 2.

USB4 port did not charge, nor did the monitor connect, but the mouse works.

USB3.2 gen 2 port did not charge, but the monitor and mouse show up. Windows also kept making a plug in and plug out noise as if something is trying to get connected.

Attempted BIOS update and issue persists for both ports.

Re:Legion S7 gen 8 (16APH8) - USBC Hub with PD not charging

Hi @ajuntoro,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your USB-C hub. It seems like you've done a thorough job of troubleshooting already.

Since you've already updated your BIOS and the issue persists, it might be a compatibility issue with the Legion S7 gen 8. I would recommend trying a different USB-C hub, if possible, to see if the issue persists.

If the problem continues, please let us know so we can continue troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Jack_Lenovo1

Im in the same boat with same laptop and usb c charging problems.  I have 2 anker 736 around and none of em charges that laptop while both are

perfectly fine with gen 6 legion.

Does you laptop not charging only through the hub or when that 736  charger plugged to the usb c port directly as well ?   So far i tried 9 different

20v-5a 100w pd chargers and none of em worked with that darn laptop

USBC charger works if plugged in directly to either ports, but does not work when trying to charge through a USBC Hub. Your laptop may be faulty

is there any chance you can make a quick vid of anker 736 charging your laptop ?  would be great to see.  maybe its a faulty laptop hardware indeed that i

have and just need to send it for replacement.  here  i made my own testing and my 736 is no go with  S7 (

USB-C Test

Here's a video of a 65W lenovo charger. Don't have the 736 with me at the moment but it does react exactly like this when connecting directly, but does not work when trying to go through a USBC hub.
