Legion Y520 battery

2018-12-19, 20:08 PM

On the left side, the LED flashes red colour 3 times then pause and so on. Is this indicative of a failure to the battery?

When it does so the laptop does not start.

Hi dax2,

Greetings.

Checking with the hardware manual (page 28), battery status indicator showing slow blinking amber is implying battery charge from 5-20%. If the led flashes faster then it is less than 5% discharging so it may not have enough power to turn on so this is normal.

You should however be able to power it up with a connected charger. But if not, then best to call in technical support.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

After connected to AC it starts even if the LED blinks 3 times in red. It keeps about 75 min until battery dead, without any app just MS-DOS or BIOS, your opinion?
[manual does not correspond, i think the 2 LEDs are inverted]
Another problem is
Fn + F11: Decreases the display brightness.
Fn + F12: Increases the display brightness.
do not work.

Hi dax2,

Check if the drivers and BIOS are updated else call in technical support for further recommendation. 75 minutes does seem short for just with basic operations.

Regards

Already called Lenovo and sent me to service, already called service and they have just a call center which have no idea and can not do anything.
So, who made this laptop should know but avoids talking.
It has no drivers for Dos and has the latest BIOS.

Fn + F11: Decreases the display brightness.
Fn + F12: Increases the display brightness.
do not work as i said, the screen's CFL lit at a maximum in Free-dos or ms-dos, i'd like to know if this is a defect.

The blinking is just telling you that the battery is charging and is currently at a low battery percentage.

That's right and when it's plugged in it starts.
Just got to test it in an OS, yet to make a bootable stick. In DOS system it reached ~2h.
The screen CFL problem is the same to Thinkpad and maybe to all Lenovo models, i was able to find out.

The blinking should only start when you plug it in. Did you try using F11/F12 without pressing Fn? You may have turned off the need for the Fn key in the BIOS without realizing it.
