Legion Y530 170W Power Adapter on 135W laptop?

I am currently using Y530-15ICH with i7-8750H and GTX 1050, everything has been good except the fact that i will have battery drain after hours of gaming,i will lose around 4-5 % of battery after around an hour of playing CS:GO.

A search around the forum say that the power adapter provided by Lenovo was not sufficient for the laptop. To further confirm my hypothesis I ran prime95 along with furmark and with screen at 100% brightness just to see whether the battery will get discharge after intense use of the laptop. I lose around 10% of battery just after around 1 hours of intense use, so i guess the problem really lies in the power adapter.

So my main concern here is that if a 170W power adapter will work on my 135W laptop. A look under the laptop's sticker shows that the laptop input power is suppose to be 20v @ 6.75a .  I wonder if a 170W power adapter will benefit the laptop , and if the laptop will even draw the 170W of power into the laptop. Anyone with experience please enlighten me.

As long as the output voltage is 20V, it will work

Re: Legion Y530 170W Power Adapter on 135W laptop?

I understand that it will work, my question was if the 170w power adapter will work as a 135w(computer only draw 135w, because that is what the laptop might be limited to) or it will draw full power if needed that is 170W to fully power both the CPU and GPU.
I hope i explained my question well.

44WW is not the latest version. 46WW is the latest version of BIOS and it was released today. Check it out ! Smiley Wink

I'm playing league of legends and quake champions at the moment.
