Re: Legion Y530 battery problems

They don't care. If they really do, Lenovo should provide the 170W power supply for free instead of charging 100 EURO, or they should recall all the defective units, or give replacements for the 135W stock adapter. That's my 2 cents... I said this before and I'll say it again: this is my first and the last lenovo product, I'll never buy Lenovo again. If any Lenovo employee sees this, please do something, this is a serious problem, or atleast stop advertising y530 anymore...When it comes to this particular problem, which is a common problem with this model, and y520 aswell, nobody (Lenovo team) blinks an eye...

Honestly I was looking around at other laptops manufacturers and they are giving people 130 or 120W bricks. Those companies must be down volting the 8th gen i5's and i7's to 35w tdp. We're lucky to get the 135 brick and full 45w tdp but it still isn't enough so upgrading to the 170 should help.

Yes you are right. I saw msi stealth(i can't tell which model) with 120W adapter. Maybe because of that down volting their laptops don't heat as much as lenovo laptops and stock power bricks are enough

Hello Guys, I dunno if you are still experiencing battery problems, I bought a brand new Y530 GTX1060 and indeed come with a 170W AC adapter, very happy I started to install from the basics till some games like DOOM 4 and BF4, everything was running smoothly until I finish the first session of gaming of 1 hour, to realize that even plugged my battery drop to 95%. I went mad,  then I found this post, but after a while, I even find a solution that at least work for me.

1. Go to Device Manager

2. Locate the Batteries section

3. Uninstall, Yes Uninstall! the Microsoft AC and ACPI Adapter, they will automatically reappear soon as you reset the laptop

4. Hard Shut down the system (Press Shutdown while holding SHIFT)

5. Then just turn on your Computer

It worked for me.... tell me your results

Greetings

I have the same problem with my Y530. I was thinking about getting a 170W power brick but I have doubts that it will damage the laptop...any advice, opinion??

Thank you.

Well, I'm on the latest BIOS version and as I've seen on the support page they updated the energy manager driver. I've installed the updated driver and I have no issues. No more battery drain while gaming. I'm using the 135W power brick that came with the laptop.
