Legion Y530 sound issues

2018-12-19, 0:04 AM

Hello

I recently bought a Y530 laptop and I'm having slight issues with audio. Headphones connected through audio jack start playing sound about 2 seconds after starting audio/video files. They do that every time after no sound plays for about 10 seconds. It happens to system sounds too. Speakers work without issues, it only happens with headphones. Same headphones don't do that on older Lenovo laptop I have.

I'm assuming this is drivers issue? But reinstalling audio drivers fixed nothing. Turning Dolby Audio on or off also fixes nothing. Energy options are also all set to max performance.

Indeed the drivers are the issue, it happens to me too sometimes after the laptop has been to sleep for a while, even on the built in speakers, there'll be a delay, same for headphones. There seems to be no fix at the moment but restart your computer. That fixes it for me, but really is not that bothersome to even leave it be.

net stop audiosrv
net stop AudioEndpointBuilder
net start audiosrv
net start AudioEndpointBuilder

save as text file (NotePad) ,Change the full name to “Restart audio.bat”

Your problem is unknown because the audio device is not working properly (or auto refresh), but you can use the above .bat file Running as administrator to refresh it manually

Vantage already installed the new 6.0.1.8552_WHQL drivers and issue is still there.

Looking around a bit it seems to be an issue plaguing Realtek drivers. People with Dell or HP laptops also experience this.

I noticed another thing with audio. In some games there are annoying static sounds every 10-20 seconds, it was very noticeable in FFXIV and at one instance sound died in game and only came back after restart. That issue disappeared completely after turning on Windows Sonic for Headphones. But delay on headphones is still there.

I'm starting to think there is something very wrong with those audio drivers. Some people say to remove Realtek drivers and use generic Windows audio drivers, but that will make Dolby Audio unusable right?

Nothing seems to be able to fix this issue.

And is it normal that there are only two options for audio here?

The problem is all the chips are american. China cannot build graphic card without GPUs or laptops without CPUs. If they tax them and sell their product back to the US, like Apple for example, then it is going to be a nightmare. If Trump is not imposing any kind of tax on Taiwanese products, then the PC market can mitigate IMHO, however, kiss your iphone goodbye, Apple is screwed big time MyPrepaidCenter - Login to Check Balance or Activate Card.

Hello. I'm having the exact same issue. Also- weird sounds when using headphones (you can hardly hear it but it's annoying)- something like short buzzing. Anyone else having this problem? What can help? Updating audio driver doesn't help.

Hi.

I fixed it for mine y530, so it can be fixed, but it's a little bit technical. This issue is  not unique to lenovo y530, it's plaguing a lot of platforms.

You need to 1) download older drivers, Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_51T6N_WIN_6.0.1.8142_A07 , they work wonderful.

Just download, unpack, update driver from device manager, choose "have disk", browse to unpacked driver folder\RealtekHDAudio\WIN64.

Stumbled upon this in https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Windows-Program-Event-Sounds-Delayed/td-p/5863709

And 2) you need to ensure that windows update won't re-download and install "newer" version from microsoft. Use this manual https://www.howtogeek.com/263851/how-to-prevent-windows-from-automatically-updating-specific-drivers/ to create a group policy with blacklist for realtek hdaudio hardware ids.

As the result sound will work as intended, and windows update won't push broken driver on every update.

To manage switching headphone input and output from windows (very convinient, by the way), you need to run RealtekHDAudio\WIN64\RAVCpl64.exe  once and from top right of the control panel select "device advanced settings" and choose for playback "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" and for recording "separate all input jack as independent input devies"

It's possible  to edit registry to prevent audio driver from going to sleep every 3 seconds, see https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/Legion-Y530-sound-issues-fix/td-p/4377733

This resolves sound delay issue and different noises caused by audio chip switching between power states.
