Legion Y540's charger pin which is rectangular, heats a lot during charging and also doesnt charge

2020-07-29, 4:53 AM

I recently brought a Legion Y540 a few months ago, I'm currently facing overheating issues with my rectangular charger pin, while I charge my laptop. There's no scratch or any minor cut also on the charging wire, neither any damage to the 170W adapter brick. I'm worried, as if the problem continues it may damage the interior of the laptop as the internal battery or the MotherBoard. Well, this is just a thought of precaution.

For the laptop to charge I need to somewhat twist the wire of hold it at some perfect angle by bending it, to charge but if it charges there's heating issue which makes me worried and stop continuing use of my laptop. I think the problem may be in the wire or the port on the laptop for charging. But I need expert advice from someone who knows this situation and has really experienced it.

I'm also attaching a photo of the part that overheats.

Please I need urgent help, and also can somebody tell me the necessary measures to be taken?

Thank You, for the help It really means a lot to have such a community like you!

Stop using that charger and buy a new one.

Thanks brother, I'm looking upto it and have contacted lenovo premium care services. I'm doubtfull whether the fault lies in charger cable Or the port on my laptop as usually laptop side heats initially.

I actually have the exact same issue, I tried using another charger but that didnt help a whole lot, so I'm guessing it's the port. Kinda dissapointed and I really don't want to have to send it in for repairs.

Lenovo said I have to take it in, so I’m hoping its just that they have to replace the port and not the motherboard.
