Legion Y730 conservation mode

2020-09-13, 5:19 AM

Hi,

I just read that legion y730 does not support conservation mode., How can we use it longer when plugged in, because in my experiece after hitting 100 percent charge and continuing using it battery wear percentage gets higher (lower full charge capcity), should I just unplug it if it reaches 100? But doing so will really affect performance when gaming

Hi,

Welcome to the Lenovo forum community!

You can keep it plugged in, the modern laptops do not damage the batteries by being plugged in, but heres a couple of things, dont discharge the battery below 20-30% the thing that damages Lithium batter the most is total discharges. So a lithium battery, depending on chemistry, but if we look at the 18650 types, can be charged to 4.2, and discharged down to 2.8, the most damaging is going over 4.1 and below 3.0 volts most laptops charging those kind of batteries usually charge them to 4.1, and most will reach 0 % at 2.8 volt, so charge as normal, but try not to go below 20-30% and your risk of creating dendrides inside the battery is greatly deminished.

Thanks for the reply it gets clearer to me when to charge, but keeping it plugged while gaming and battery at100 percent is still good?

Also I see in older version of vantage under conservation mode it says "Your lenovo pc is optimizing the health of your battery and this feature is not needed" what does it mean?

Thank you

Yes no worries there

Older systems did not by default run in conservation mode, this, has changed to something similar, but without the limiting factor of conservation mode, which would only use 50 to 60% of battery capacity.
