Legion Y740 - keyboard, power button, and sleep trouble

2021-04-16, 20:41 PM

Hi I'm having these problems which all appeared at the same time,

- Some of the fn buttons on my keyboard do not work : brightness change, airplane mode, switch microphone and camera on and off...

- The laptop doesn't go to sleep when I close it even though the option is turned on

- When I plug it in, it takes a couple minutes before it starts charging (or at least before it shows that it is charging)

- If I press the power button it goes straight to sleep even if I hold it.

All my drivers are up to date.

Thank you for your help

Hello @LucDes,

Thanks for reaching out.

Please try downloading and installing the Lenovo Utility app. This should fix the hotkey related issues you have with the keyboard.

I would also suggest restoring the default power plan settings in the Control panel and also configuring the power button and lid close action options.

Control panel-> Hardware and Sound->Power options.

This should fix the problems with sleep.

Regards,

Jack_Lenovo1

Hi Jack thank you for your reply, Lenovo Utility app is already installed, I updated it but that hasn't helped unfortunately. And all the default power options are also already set.

Hello @LucDes,

Sorry for the late reply.

Did the issue start after any updates or new programs were installed?

If yes, could you try rolling back any updates installed recently?

I would also suggest trying to reinstall the drivers below for best success.

Hello,

I think it started after a windows update, I've tried going back to a previous version but unsuccessfully.

Hello @LucDes,

Sorry for the late reply.

Kindly try uninstalling the keyboard drivers then rebooting the machine.

1. Open the device manager.

2. Expand the keyboard section.

3. Uninstall the keyboard driver then reboot the machine.

Hi;

Did you install the Lenovo utility app from the Microsoft store?

If not, uninstall that one and install another from Microsoft store.

If you have installed, please check if it is running.

If the lenovo utility was installed successfully, you can see it like the picture shows below:

If it is running correctly, you can see it in "Task Manager",as the picture shows below:

Then tell me the result, thank you.
