I apologize if this is not a relevant post but i notice a problem with my i7 7700HQ.
I guess processor can reach at 100 percent load 2.8GHz or (2.79GHz), but my cant do that.
I tried many stress tests and cpu cant reach that clocks, even 100 percent load cant be reached.
My toughts is power limit issues but iam not sure. Temperatures are fine, no thermal throttle, fans didnt go on full speed ever.
I appreciate every help, any solution and iam sorry about my english.
If you want i can later post photos from stress test or temperatures.
My laptop is Lenovo Legion Y720.

and this happening as by powerthrottling , in some cases heat issues bur most its power throthling problem. Bad engineered laptop i have it as well the same problems , i was able to manage to be it at 2.79 at most time while i play. Could be baldly manufactured power supplies

No, the Y720 does not power throttle the cpu. You guys must be overheating there.
The Y720 has a very aggresive heat throttling going on. As soon as it gets close to 80C it throttles down to 2.69Ghz.
I got mine undervolted and in non cpu intensive games it runs fine at 3.4ghz.
And in cpu intensive games i need to use extreme cooling if I want to keep 3.4ghz clock speed.
While using extreme cooling it NEVER drops below 3.4ghz for me.
If you have any questions or need help with your Y720 just write me a message, it is a really awesome laptop trust me!

yep I am ir man power throtlina net jai undervoltinu cpu net iki 150mV , stabilumas buna laikinas. jai GPU pradeda graibyti apie 30W + CPU viskas is kartp powerthrottling bandziau stabdyti bele kaip niekas nepadejo , kol i power options modifikavau registru dadeti turbo boost valdyma.

I think it could be either a power or thermal issue. In my case, I'm fairly confident that it's a thermal issue, the cpu drops out of boost once it hits ~80 degree. (I also thought it might be a power issue, and XTU did show power throttling when I first ran it, but undervolting seems to have eliminated any instances of power throttling yet the clock speed limit is still there).
The issue I have now is that even with fans on turbo and my CPU undervolted (so, in theory, running cooler), I still regularly hit that 80-degree mark and I drop out of boost (which leads to 5-10 FPS drop in some game). Short of re-pasting my CPU, anyone have any suggestions for getting the temps down?
I should also note I've tried the whole lift the back of your laptop up, it didn't seem to make any difference for me (and I've also cleaned the intake area so there's not an airflow issue).

Blem, tai tavo gal taip vaidnamas faulty unit. Mano net be undervoltinimo ne power throttlina CPU
Gpu tai joo pritrūksta watų ir ant 100% net undervoltintas clock speed pameta iki 1600mhz. Bet čia visų laptopų GPU taip pačiai
Bet CPU tai man niekada ne throttlino
