I have Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBM
Lenovo Y520-15 - Intel Core i5-7300HQ 2.5/3.5GHz; GeForce GTX 1060M MaxQ 6GB GDDR5; 8GB DDR4; 128GB SSD m.2NVMe ADATA SX7000 + 1TB HDD; 15,6" FHD; Windows10
I want to buy 144Hz monitor. Should I buy USB-C to DisplayPort cable adapter like that:
or mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter?

The user guide doesnt mention the Type C port being compatible with video output (The Y530s explicitly mentions this), so to be safe I would go with Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort.
It looks like while the guide doesn't mention it, it supports video out. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/SOLVED-Y520-USB-Type-C-to-VGA/td-p/3690558
In theory, either of those adaptors would work. To me, the Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort is still the safer bet.
