Recently I bought Plextor M8PEg SSD, but unfortunately my bios does not recognise it.
I dont get why, because this is M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 with NVM Express (2280 form factor) disk and should be detectable by my laptop without any problem?
Please help, I've tried a lot of things, i.e. AHCI, UEFI switches in bios, etc but still no luck. Can it be SSD slot failure on my motherboard?
Thanks for answer!

Read through it and you will figure out an answer. It is either a faulty motherboard, or some specific units of Legion Y520 are just not compatible and require a whitelisted device. The phenomenon that I noticed is that the Plextor didn't work on the laptop with a Western Digital hard drive. It did however, with Seagate one that I received by exchanging it through my retailer. Go see what hard drive is your laptop equipped with. You can check that in the BIOS. WD stands for Western Digital, ST for Seagate.

Yes, this is strange but my Lenovo was supplied with Western Digital HDD...
Can you please tell me what model of SSD you are using right now and what is the version of your BIOS?
And one more: did you buy your laptop without OS? What config did you get on both laptops (with working and non working ssd)

I am running on the same Plextor M8PEg as you. The BIOS version is 4KCN24WW, and trying to update it will most probably fail for you because it's the version that is preinstalled on Legions. You apparently confirmed my thoughts. Motherboard with WD HDD might not work with Plextor SSD. I had this luck to get another laptop with Seagate HDD and the Plextor works perfectly fine and the BIOS has detected if the moment I have mounted it. I can only suggest to contact your retailer, the shop where you've bought the laptop and inform them about the situation so they can provide you with another laptop that hopefully does not operate on WD HDD.

I'm thinking about downgrading my bios and test again. What do you think?
In my opinion this is mostly bios problem and I dont know why Lenovo produce such units without testing

By the way I double checked my laptop again and itcomes with Seagate Mobile HDD 1TB ST1000LM035 so I think it doesn't matter what HD is in it...

This is solved.
Plextor M8PEg model comes with cooling plate which is need to be cutted for correct placement in Lenovo Y520.
Thank you all for answers.
