Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 Battery Issue

I think the problem is that the firmware was deleted in the first step, so now the notebook doesn't recognize the battery properly.

Yes, the new firmware replaces the old one by deleting it at first step. However, the new firmware is for 5V chargers (tablets etc.) so the install fails because our notebooks need 20V. I'm no expert tho, this is my opinion. I just hope that the fix comes as soon as possible.

I am wondering if the battery and / or the circuit board could be physically damaged due to the wrong driver. I am not an expert, but it seems that even the slightest change in the voltage can fatally harm such things.

I dont think so. The question is if they can load another firmware without the old one.

This situation reminds me when a smartphone failed the firmware update.
I dont no if they still have mechanisms (ex: BIOS) to load the new firmware or if the flash on the battery is now inaccessibble and the battery must be replaced for that reason.

I think that this situation can't "hurt" the motherboard from voltage perspective.

The old one doesn't work for me. The same error no matter what I do. It is not a matter of returning the old driver now, we need a proper patch/fix. I would say hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Yes, that is the point.

If they have a way to charge a patch in a "empty" chip.

I hope so, for all of us!

Hey  guys, reporting in from Hungary and I have the same problem. The update messed up 2 or 3 days ago and until now my battery was working fine ( I saw it flashing once though, but it still showed the good charged battery logo at the bottom right corner) and today when I was playing Watchdogs 2 my laptop suddenly shut down. After I turn on the laptop again, I was greeted with the incorrect voltage sign and my power button and recharger is blinking. I just hope it's only a software bug and my ac is still fine.

Soo... Does anyone have any news? Maybe someone managed to resurrect battery.  I mean, it's been more than a week now. It's my main computer and portability is crucial to me. It will be very disappointing if it turns out that the problem cannot be solved by updating the drivers and hardware is somehow damaged.
