Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

I've had my laptop for less than 2 months, but recently I got stuck in an auto-repair loop (possibly a virus), so I took my laptop to my university's tech center. Once there they wiped my laptop clean and installed a fresh install of Windows 10. A couple of my drivers got deleted like my mouse and wifi drivers, but they re-installed them there as well. Everything was fine just a little slow, I re-installed all my apps/games back. I never really checked for Windows 10 updates until a couple days ago because I randomly got this error when trying to play my games. It would say something like this: "ERROR: your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F)". I have a GTX 1050 ti, so I was really confused. I looked up how to fix it on other forums and even Reddit. Apparently, this happens when your laptop tries using the GPU built into the motherboard instead of the actual graphics card. Many suggested uninstalling the current GPU drivers and re-installing them. So that's exactly what I tried, but now whenever I try to express install the newest driver on Geforce Experience; it says "The Standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using...(website)". The website it gives is not even available, so I look up and manually try to download/install the driver myself, but it gives me the same message it did on Geforce Experience. So I finally decide to update Windows 10 and the update available is: "2018-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4462919)". The only problem is that it downloads, installs, and initializes but it keeps repeating and won't update. I don't know what to do now. I'm at the point to just reset my whole laptop again and re-installing everything. Will this fix it? or is there an easier solution? Will resetting it again put me on the newest Windows 10 update or will it be pointless? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

Hi Junk69,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for providing detailed information about the issue. Since the system no longer boot to Windows try to perform a System Restore first. Try to revert back to a certain date where the laptop is working fine. If in case, you do not have a restore point then I would suggest to reset the laptop. This time we recommend that you installed the drivers listed on our website. You may download the driver using the link below.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

Y530 ,Windows 10 1803 ,
1050 Ti driver version 398.27  update to 416.16 / 416.36

If you try to upgrade latest Nvidia geforce drivers directly with the original/older driver installed you will get the error
Whether newest driver on Geforce Experience or manually download/install the driver via(https://www.geforce.com/drivers)

You can try below step by step ,cause it works for my device

0. Try to Update the inter UHD 630 graphics card driver first
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/126790/Intel-UHD-Graphics-630
(If you can't install it, try uninstalling the old driver on your Laptop.)

2.Before you choose to start installing the Nvidia geforce driver, make sure :

The older driver have been remove/uninstall from your Laptop .

Then install the newest driver on Geforce Experience or https://www.geforce.com/drivers

You should see the Nvidia geforce driver intstaller work well now.( Geforce Experience can auto update for now)

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

I was in a Live Chat with someone from Lenovo and I told them what happened. They suggested resetting the computer just like you suggested. The lady emailed me a pdf on how to do it and I followed the steps. After the reset, it placed me on an auto repair screen and it said something along the lines of "the computer was not reset properly or unable to reset". I took it back to my university's tech center and asked them to reset it for me, but with their Windows 10 USB. Once it finished, it put me on a recovery screen that said an important driver is missing; it said "file: windows/system32/drivers/tcpip.sys" "error code: 0xc0000221". The guy at the tech center told me the only solution now is to send it back to Lenovo and get the hard drive replaced or parts replaced. Is this true? If so, how can I safely mail my laptop to get repaired and ensure that I'll get it back? My friend told me I might need to fill something out or place a repair order. Can someone walk me through the process? The lady that helped me reset my computer assigned me a case number: 8011958589. Before I reset my computer, I was able to use Google Chrome, my apps and was able to do homework but now it's bricked and I can't even use it. I have a ton of homework and sending it to Lenovo will take weeks for it to return I'd imagine. Is there an easier or faster fix? I literally bought it less than 2 months ago and I really need it for school. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. I'll be checking my email more often.

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

If get an error
said "file: windows/system32/drivers/tcpip.sys" "error code: 0xc0000221"

it mean your Windows system was destroyed, or the hard disk has a problem (lost data)

You can now only try to install Win 10 yourself (if the computer can still read Window intaller USB)

Only use Win 10 tool below!
For Windows 10 update,
Download and install tool from microsoft
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

If you already have a win 10 usb, it is recommended to re-create (download) or change another USB

If it still doesn't work, it may be that the hard disk has a bad area.

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 NVIDIA Graphics Driver/ Windows 10 Update Not Working

Thanks 303,

You really helped,

Registered just to give you kodos Smiley Happy

What I've done on my new, unboxed a few hours ago Y530 to resolve this:

1. Uninstall ALL display adapters (including drivers) from Device Manager. Reboot. Repeat until only Generic is left.

2. Install new Intel DCH drivers (from Intel site). Reboot.

3. Install new GeForce drivers (from Nvidia site). Reboot.

4. Victory!

P.S.: Lenovo support is as always not very helpful Smiley Tongue
