Lenovo Legion Y530 WiFi useless

2019-12-26, 21:19 PM

Dear All....

I have a Lenovo Legion Y530 - 15ICH with Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter. A have already read a many forums and articles, etc. Still i can't found the right solution. The speed and the stability of connection is absolutely horrible.... Under windows and Ubuntu too... I tried the basic win WiFi driver and the driver from Lenovo but didn't work.

I have 3 cases:

1: The wifi drop the network after some minutes.

2: The speed is very very very very very slow. Really.... slow.

3: After i reconnect the first webpage is load but after that the wifi is drop down.... after 5minutes wifi come back (still i don't do anything just wait)... and again load one webpage and drop down again.... and so on....

My kids have one HP Omen and one Asus TUF and either work well.... so not the router is the problem.

Unfortunately i have to work on this Lenovo but i'll change this to another brand if i can't fix it.

Somebody met ever with this problem ?

Thank you so much,

Regards,

Gergely

Just switch to Intel AC 9260 and problem will be solved - link to Amazon. When I got my C730, I found out same problems you have - drops, slow speed, reconnects. My C730 had Realtek 8822BE chip installed. I just purchased Intel AC 9260 on same day and received it two days later. Now I don't have any problems anymore. Really don't know why Lenovo tries to save some money by purchasing Atheros and Realtek wifi chips, they are so bad..

Windows 10 version 1903 created a bunch of problems for Wireless adapters, so you need to have the driver released for 1903.

The latest driver I see is version 12.0.0.926 which should be available via Windows Update.

You can manually download and install the Windows Updates .CAB files from Microsoft, but you will have to extract the .CAB files to a folder using a program like 7-Zip (free openource), and then manually install the driver using the method described below.

I recommend you create two folders, a folder C:\Drivers\Qalcom\WiFi and a folder C:\Drivers\Qualcom\Bluetooth.

Once you have downloaded the two .cab files.

  • Locate the .cab files (should be in your Downloads folder)
  • Right-click on it the .cab file, select 7-Zip >> Extract Files... and then in the Extract To: box, point to the WiFI or Bluetooth folders created previously.

Note:   It is important that you install both the latest Bluetooth and WIFI drivers together to ensure the card will work properly.

Driver Model: Qualcomm QCA9377 Bluetooth  Driver - Provider: Qualcomm - Version: 10.0.0.926 - Version Date: 9/18/2019

How to Manually install drivers

  • Right-click on Start and select Device manager
  • Click on Network Adapters to Expand
  • Right Click on your QCA9377 Wireless Adapter and select Update Driver
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • In the next window, click Browse, point the "Search for drivers in this location" to the corresponding folder containing the new WiFi driver and then click Next to complete installation.
  • Next, Right-click on Start and select Device manager
  • Click on Bluetooth to expand that section, and then repeat the same process to manually install the latest driver for your Bluetooth adapter.  .

Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

Cheers,

If you use the manual method I detailed in my post, you won't get that message.

Re: Lenovo Legion Y530 WiFi useless

Unfortunately everything the same.... If i start downloading it starts with max. speed after 1-2seconds it's totally go down with very low net speed like 128kbps modem.... and still i don't stop download it is slow. After i stop download it is renew and the net goes well. Like speedtest, first 1-2 seconds it is good and show 160MBPs, but after it goes down 4-5MBPs. I'm totally lost....

I try reset network adapters, the ip adresses, switch off to allow the computer to switch off the device to save energy, and so on... really everything what i found on the www....

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Try switching to an older driver first.

  • From Device Manager, Right-click on the WiFi adapter and select Update Driver
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
  • Pick an older driver and select next to install.
  • Try installing the latest driver manually again.

You can also try uninstalling the WiFi Card (right-click Uninstall), and if given the option, check the box to "Delete the driver software for this device"

The WiFi card should then show up in Device Manager as an Unknown Device to which you can right-click on and try to manually update the driver again.

Best of luck,
