Lenovo Legion y540 Overheating

2021-04-07, 15:06 PM

Hey, so a few days ago my Lenovo legion just started overheating out of nowhere hitting about 100 degrees Celsius from lightweight games like League of Legends.

I had problems with overheating on very intensive games but out of nowhere my laptop started overheating from nothing. I have cleaned the fans and heatsinks and put on fresh thermal paste, but that seems to only very slightly help. There seems to be another issue and I can't figure it out. Any Ideas?

Hello @Micha2929,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Kindly try checking if your BIOS is the most updated one.

You can download the BIOS here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/legion-series/legion-y540-15irh/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI you may have to enter your serial number to get the correct one.

Hope this helps.
