Re: Lenovo Y540 Audio desync (Audio ahead of Video)

There's no point in doing all the unecessary installation steps you do when installing to an alternative HDD/SSD - assuming the SKHynix drive is the cause.

Like I said, literally just create a partition of about 50 GB on the included HDD, install Windows and you'll instantly know for sure whether it is the SSD causing the desync or not...

Do steps 1-4, leave it as "unallocated space". Then it's just a regular Windows USB installation but instead of installing to C: you're going to be installing to the unallocated partition on your D: drive.

ANOTHER UPDATE!

So, last night I disabled "Fast startup" option in Windows 10 and restarted my laptop. Since Windows is installed on SSD, the difference in startup time with and without that option is insignificant. However, turning this option off, I have absolutly no desync anymore, even on Chrome. I noticed that there is no latency issues in LatencyMon too.

Just to be clear, before disabling "Fast startup" option in Windows 10 I didn't have desync in Microsoft Edge browser, but did have it in Chrome. I explained in previous posts how to get to this state.

That's weird, on the other hand it's better to disable it and perform clean boot up from time to time. Computer is more responsive afterwards.

Re: Lenovo Y540 Audio desync (Audio ahead of Video)

Hello again.

Today I have installed Windows on a part of my HDD and there were no desync at all!

I have done nothing special on installation process. I have just installed and connected to internet where it asks to. After that I wanted to compare the audio drivers to see any difference. Only difference was, the driver that under the "Audio inputs and outputs" was named "Speakers (3- Realtek(R) Audio)" so I thought that it was a different driver but when I tried to extract the driver and install it to Windows in SSD, they seemed the same driver and it had no impact. Upon checking Jonathans drivers, I see that his driver is also named with "3" attachment. So there might be a correlation between this 3 sign and the desync.

I also tried disabling fastboot option and it didnt have any effect. But I remember that I saw in some forum post, they were suggesting to disable Hibernation but in my setup it was already disabled. Also Phobius can you share a screenshot of your drivers also please?

It confirms my previous posts about installing windows on another HDD/SSD drive. When installed on HDD, everything was working like a charm. Had to go back to SSD due to low HDD performance and faced with desyncs again

Moinmoin!

After reading some of the last posts about the Hynix SSD I tired to install  Win 10 to my other drive and it might have done the trick for me!
Seems like that it does not need special drivers or sequences in this case. I did nothing diffrent to my other clean installs erlier onto the Hynix drive that never solved the problem.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone else with a Hynix SSD can solve this problem just by selecting another HD for Windows installation.

Yup. You can install drivers in any order. Someone said earlier, that he has Samsung SSD and still facing with desyncs. Maybe it's related to m.2 socket? On the other hand, someone shared info about replacing Hynix with another m.2 SSD and it completely fixed the issue
