Re: Lenovo Y540 Audio desync (Audio ahead of Video)

2019-11-15, 9:50 AM

Hi,

Just to confirm, enabling or disabling fast startup mode does not solve the problem. I would like to avoid buying new SSD (50-80€) for a laptop for over 1000€ which is around 4 weeks old. If hynix is the problem then lenovo should replace it or at least send us a new SSD. There is problem utilising the old SSD as this is PCIe x4 and the adapters are very expensive, it is not worth to "play" with it.

Did anyone replaced the build in m2 SSD and which model works?

I also found this:

https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/5716937?hl=en

There could be also a problem with nvidia and streaming, but let's try to replace the SSD, this will be the fastest way.

@Piter_m

Dylan has managed this issue by replacing ssd. His post actually made me to check it on my own by installing W10 on another drive.
Check his post:

Sorry, it’s not going to get any faster. Windows is limited by the speed of your HDD which sadly is a lot slower than an SSD.

However, is there still desync or not? That's what you're enduring the slow speed for after all

i'll try the desync issue after all the driver updates, but even if its fixed i'm not sure i can keep this slow hdd . only fix then is to buy another ssd or just use edge for video's since i don't have desync on that...

Yup, I think a new SSD is the only option. However, a new SSD doesn't have to be expensive, I bought mine for €40

The most important whether you have desync or not. I resolved this issue on my HDD but had to go back to SSD and desyncs due HDD and its slow and terrible work

Yeah it is really painful to work with that HDD.

After my post, I wanted to try copying the partition that I installed on HDD because I believed that it had different driver but I messed up with all kinds of stuff and I wasn't able to do it. Then I felt just bored from that and wanted to clean up all the mess I created in my drives. Later, I just clean installed Windows on my SSD without doing anything special and I figured out that I had my driver named 3-Realtek Audio. So I thought that it wont cause any desync but had no luck with it. Apart from the other situations I got, I don't have the desync on Edge. Remembering Phobius' case I disabled fast boot but it didn't lead to any solutions.

Hi dylancl

What kind of SSD did you buy? I will wait till black friday and try to buy a 500GB drive.

Is there any way to use the old hynix drive (PCIe 4x) - any external case etc.?

Can anybody else confirm a new SSD m2 factor solve the desync issue?

Just had a pretty funny (or stupid) conversation with Lenovo, they mentioned that you will lose your warranty if you open up the case to replace or upgrade the SSD or RAM. Are they xxxx serious? They sell these units with 2,5" brackets and the needed adapter and later tell you you lost your warranty due to installing it.
I never got such a bad experience with any device/support before, even bought the warranty upgrade to 3 years for nothing.

They send you a device thats not properly working, leave you completely alone for almost 2 months, delete requests without even trying to explain why they did this and later tell you you lost your warranty anyway... :D

Just be aware that you never mention any replacements/upgrades and take them out of the Laptop before sending your device in guys!
