That's illegal, I'm sure they mean that they won't cover the new parts, companies aren't allowed to break warranty over repairs.

It was more like "you opend the device, so your warranty is lost". You dont even have to touch anything on the inside, its just opening the case whats enough for Lenovo. But when i asked further where i can get information about this he couldnt tell.

I am more confused after talking to the support than i was before... Even the handbook mentions replacements of CRU (consumer replacable units) and how to open the case, but when you look into the service guide for the Y540 not a single part is declared as CRU, not even the bracket or any screw, just the external powersupply.

@Ack257 i can confirm, installing Windows on a different SSD (Sata 2,5") can solve the problem.

And now i will have fun with the support :smileywink: i have send my notebook three times to the service and nothing happend, they only install a new windows and thats it. They always told me "now everything works fine".... but now we have a solution, maybe the SKHynix SSD is the problem or the NVME Port.

Hi Nappi16

Hi All,

Just to confirm - do we need a SATA drive or can we take another m2 NVMe SSD?

I am looking to buy for example the: Corsair Force MP510 480 GB NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2-SSD. If the laptop has this port it must be used, if it is defective Lenovo should replace the laptop. I do not see why do I have to make experiments if there is some hardware bug.

Strange is only the fact that Edge can play all streams without desync and Chrome does not. I even tried without hardware acceleration - the same problem. Only Edge is working fine. No problems in games etc. only streams but Chrome must by fully closed - even one open tab leads to desync.

Guys,

When I wrote I didn't have desync in Chrome with fast startup turned off I really didn't. I tested on some long videos that night, there was no desync. But, today I found some time to check again, and there's desync in Chrome again, but not in Edge. This doesn't make any sense.

As promised, all my drivers are listed in HTML report that's in this link:

This is really strange - I got all in sync only using an external USB sound card - I tested with Sabrent and it all works fine. Chrome and Edge plays all streams with sync.

The is really strange as if this is a problem with the SSD the problem should stay with the USB sound card.

Definitely, and as some users had desync with other SSD brands too, it can't be an SSD hardware issue. It comes down to software, and it's incredible that Lenovo still doesn't respond, even after so many posts. I'll try a clean install one last time, with Johnathans directions.

"it can't be an SSD hardware issue" is a blatant lie since more people have been able to fix this issue by replacing their SSD than by screwing around with drivers.

Stop bothering with the "clean install" because it's just a huge waste of time.
