Re: Lenovo Y540 Audio desync (Audio ahead of Video)

2019-10-10, 19:06 PM

For now, its still working. And I have 1 year to give back it because of a hidden defect according to the law of my country. Not from Lenovo but from the seller. Maybe new driver/BIOS will appear. And for peaople who cant return laptop, temporay solution is bluetooth headphones or usb dongle (externar sound card).

Re: Lenovo Y540 Audio desync (Audio ahead of Video)

I have done some further testing last night. It seems that this audio desync and craclikng happens only when using Hybrid mode (when Optimus tehnology selects integrated Intel graphic card). If Hybrid mode isn't turned on, system only sees GTX card, and I didn't get any audio delay then. However, this isn't OK, since descreet card uses much more battery, so we should be able to use integrated card on battery power without this strange issue.

It may happen by intel graphic card in your case. I received my notebook back from Lenovo Service with note that the issue is related to wrongly installed drivers.

They gave me instructions (new Windows 10 installation) with drivers links to be downloaded and installed in specific order.

I've followed the instructions and sadly it still happens so im going to contact with the service again. U were mentioned about Hybrid mode but on my side, switching off/on doesnt help. BTW, desync is caused by Nvidia kernel. Checked it using LatencyMon

Yeah, but that means you can't use integrated card for browsing on battery, and it will make battery last way shorter!

Problem seems to be solved.

Things that J've done:
1) Updating drivers for Realtek Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
2) Turning off realtek idle time - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/Legion-Y530-sound-issues-fix/td-p/4377733
3) Turning off NVIDIA Powermizer - https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/solved-dropouts-cracks-pops-on-windows-7-and-nvidia-gfx-card.126080/
4) Creating a new "High Performance" power plan with Power Management -> Minimum Processor State set to 100%

5) Set Slew Rate in BIOS to Fast/8

So far no audio desync and voice crackling. I Dont know if all of this steps are necessary but it works for me.

@Jonathan1539

I have a Samsung Odyssey laptop that have the same issue. I just following this thread waiting for answers. I hope that the latency was windows 10 driver issue and not a hardware issue.

Samsung Odyssey specs:

Intel HDG 630

Realtek HD Audio

GTX 1050

16gb ram

SSD Intel 256gb

I will give a try replacing my SSD.

Have you checked 4) creating New power plan with different CPU settings? I think that is main fix for me but i cant test it since ive done more tweaks before.

Yep. Things I tried:

  • Reinstall Windows (Home and Pro);
  • Uninstall both video drivers drivers (Intel e Nvidia);
  • Uninstall only intel and keep nvidia installed;
  • Uninstall only nvidia and keep intel installed;
  • Replace audio driver with High Definition Audio Device;
  • Install the last available audio driver (Realtek);
  • Install the last version of all drivers (audio and video);
  • Heat Monitoring (48C its normal I guess)
  • Start Windows with all startup process disabled in MSCONFIG;
  • Disable Wifi and use only Ethernet;
  • Disable Ethernet and use only Wifi;
  • High Performane Power Plan (minimum processing rate at 100%);
  • Install last bios version - P14RDV.078.181113.XJ;
  • Disable fastboot;
  • Upgrade memory (from 8gb to 16gb);

Things I'll try:

  • Remove SSD and keep only HDD;
  • Replace SSD (Intel) for another (XPG);
  • Buy an audio dongle (usb external audio);
