Re: Lenovo Y540 crackling sound

That's quite noticeable. I recieved mine yesterday, the crackling sound is only while on battery and while playing high bass videos from youtube like Starboy-Weekend. Other mp3 songs work fine on battery. And no issues from speakers while plugged in.

I might’ve spoken too soon ? as my new laptop is starting to produce this issue once again.

I’ll have to record a video of it and upload it to YouTube so you guys can see what I’m talking about.

This is starting to piss me off

It is something like manufacturing defect with every piece plagued with it so replacement will not solve it. I m always plugged in so its not hurting me that much

Hello everybody. I am -very very- dissapointed to bring you the following news.

After three weeks of 'reparation' by Lenovo, I got my laptop back yesterday. And the audio-issue is NOT fixed.

Immediatly when playing spotify or youtube the crackling sound returns.

In all honesty, by now I lost all my faith in Lenovo to fix this issue. I'm contemplating on my next moves.

What would you guys do in my position? Is it reasonable to demand my money back? Or to let me pick another device from Lenovo for the same amount of money I already spent?

I have absolutely no reason to trust Lenovo to repair the laptop again, and again have to be without a laptop for 3/4 weeks.

When I check de drivers of the Realtek audio device, it says the last versions were of may/june, which means they didn't change any of the drivers of software. I'm clueless to WHAT they changed, did they replace hardware? I don't know. Any way: nothing has been fixed.

I make this account just to post this because

Seriously, Lenovo... this issue has been around in your products for years not limited to Legion but Thinkpad as well. Do you even read what hundreds of comments on your forums? Lenovo offers zero solution and forces users to find their own way out. Users have to roam through dozen of driver versions and tinker with windows registry, reinstall, restart which will shorten the already short-live Solid State Drive. Though there are two other parts to blame, Windows 10 and Realtek which are also known to cause this problem to other brands as well but Lenovo suffered the most. Two decades ago when Creative Sound Blaster is the de facto audio driver in every PC I've no problem, even Windows 7 with Microsoft or Intel audio driver has no problem. This is a big step backward in technology.

I'm also doubtful about send the laptop back, waste a month just to get the same one with same problem. Right now I'm in temporary solution, reg edit to disable auto-turn off audio device. And maximize master control but minimize program's volume control (like Chrome, Video Player). R282 driver offer less popping sound but it has flat sound with no bass (though some audio professional might want that). Revert default format in setting to 44100Hz with 16 bit. I observe that the popping sound still occur even when LatencyMon doesn't report anything unusual. And when playing game when DirectX/OpenGl driver directly control the audio it almost has zero popping sound. Two things that will definitely trigger popping sound, loud volume control, and quickly continuously repeatly play audio (like when you click on volume mixer it'll have a windows sound, at that sound might has some popping if you repeatly click it again and again and again).

Moreover, Crackling sound problem on my Lenovo Y540. I also have a problem when I watch youtube or videos. Video and sound do not synchronize. I have formated my laptop more than 3 times and tried to delete the driver, but the problems do not disappear.
