Lenovo Y700-ISK M.2 interface support (SATA3 or PCIE)

Hello Everyone,

I've seen a lot of talk about M.2 slot filled with Samsung 850, 950 or P961. Do we have a trusted compatability list of other manufacturer SSD's?

Lately i've seen quite formidable SSD's coming from WD (Green, or Blue series), Crucial (MX300) or Plextor (M7S). All of these have a SATA3 interface.

Here comes my question. Does the M.2 slot in y700 support both SATA3 (ACHI) and PCIE (NVMe) interfaces? I do get a confusing picture, as there are people who installed Samsung 850 (SATA3), or P961 (NVMe).

Re: Lenovo Y700-ISK M.2 interface support (SATA3 or PCIE)

Hi there,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As I understand that you have query regarding M.2 slots in Y700 ISK systems

Trusted list of manufacturer other than Samsung are listed below as per HMM

SSD, Liteon CV1-8B128 128GB M.2 SSD                           5SD0J21066

SSD, Liteon CV1-8B256 256GB M.2 SSD                           5SD0J21061

SSD, Liteon CV1-8B512 512GB M.2 SSD                           5SD0J21063

Already there’s been lot of discussion going on the forum whether Y700 supports SATA3 or PCIe.

To make it clear one can use all M.2 SSD cards with SATA-3 & PCIe 3.0 M.2 SSD cards but still there is doubt that it will support NVMe protocol as of now.

I hope the above information helps.
