Just got a Y700 15 (model 80NV) with i7, GTX960m, 12GB and two drives:
128GB SSD (in Device Manager reported as NVMe Samsung MZ-VLV128)
1TB WDC WD10spcx (Hybrid SSHD)
Interesting to note that Device Manager also reports the presence of a Standard NVM Express Controller under storage controllers.
I think this pretty much confirms that the NVME is supported, at least on the intel based models.

It works but it's a pain in the ass to get it sorted out and running correctly as a boot drive. I thought I was going to post a guide once but realized it was going to be too difficult to write up easily in a step by step guide on here and didn't want to lead noobs to thinking they would easily be able to get it working. I had to end up wiping all the drives and using the diskpart tool from the command prompt to manually create a boot partition on the SSD but I did get a 950 pro 512gb working and it's screaming fast... Not something I would recommend doing unless you are an IT professional with some experience figuring out command prompt tools and tinkering with bios settings - and a lot of patience.

If your using a 256GB 950 pro- this is what you should get in terms os speed. Anand Tech shows 2,200MB/s Read, & 900MB/s Write and so does Samsung, so your performance is on par with what it should be.The 512GB is 2500/1500, Regards Aldo493 PS, the 960 Pro up to 3500/2100 R/W speed.
