Lenovo y530 FreeDOS

Hello,

On the lenovo website (in germany) there are several versions of the y530 to choose from. Of the last two one costs 1399 euro, while the other 1599. The only difference being that the latter has windows 10 installed, and the one for 1399 euro only has FreeDOS. Why a 200 euro difference only for windows 10? Is upgrading the y530 from FreeDOS to Windows 10 very difficult, or whats the issue here?

Thanks in advance

Hi Maxsimes! Welcome to our forums community. We can see that the OS is installed on the SSD. Aside from that we don't see any difference. Should you have other concerns, we suggest you to get in touch with our sales team at: 0201 220 99 888, option 3 for further assistance. They are open: 8 - 18 Uhr Montag - Freitag.

Re: Lenovo y530 FreeDOS

Windows 10 isn't free and cost ~$150, more for the Pro version.

Re: Lenovo y530 FreeDOS

I bought the one with FreeDOS. Win 10 costs about 150 euros with package etc.. but a used license key is like 10.

Bought that and installed Win 10 from a flash drive with no problem whatsoever. Even if Win 10 home costs 150 and its already installed on the SSD of the laptop it doesnt justify charging 200 euros more for it. Weird marketing decision..

Thanks for the answer. What I get from it is that you don't know, why its that much more expensive. Did it myself and it worked perfectly.
