Lenovo y700 - Screen tearing (kinda) while gaming

2016-08-12, 14:39 PM

Hello

My lenovo y700 is brand new and it has been on really small usage (mainly weekends, when i travel)

My problem is that on almost any game, there is this "line" going from top left corner to bottom right corner of the screen and it´s only visible when I move the camera.

Things I have tried:

I allways make sure that the latpot is using gtx 960m as GPU while playing.

Enabling/disabling vertical sync and triple buffering, both from ingame-settings and from nvidia control panel

Let Nvidia Experience optimize gamesettings

Has anyone encountered this kind of issue and perfahp found a solution? Or do the ones, who are wiser than me, have some tip I could try? Or should I send it in for repairs under warrancy?

Thanks.

Hi there, Tooska -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Vysnc prevents screen tearing, but it has the side effect of only being able to run a game at 60fps or 30fps.  If performance drops under 60fps even slightly, the frame rape drops to 30fps. Try disabling it in the ingame settings.

If you like vsync because it prevents screen tearing, enable it in the nvidia control panel (manage 3d settings -> program settings -> select your game) and make sure triple buffering is on. This prevents the sudden frame drops Nvidia also has a new feature called adaptive vsync which also solves the problem.

Please update us how it goes.

If this line is diagonal then I dont think its screen tearing or vsync issue.

Can you please take a video of this issue and maybe upload somewhere to see?

Thanks.

Hi again

Seems like the problem solved itself, the tearing is gone. I tried to adjust my laptop screen while playing, to check if it was and hardware issue ( it still might be) but the tearing didn´t occur again.

Need to get this topic a bump if the problem comes back.

Thanks for anyone who answered.
