M.2 ssd interface of Ideapad y700

I have a Lenovo Ideapad y700 (14-inch model). I have been trying to upgrade my SSD from 256 to 1Tb. However, information regarding the kind of interface on the M.2 is not available. When I contacted the customer service, they informed me that the M.2 slot uses the SATA III interface.   I was not satisfied with their answer so benchmarked my SSD and found the speed to hover around 1750 Mbps, so it is definitely not a SATA III interface.  The manual for the model and most of my research on the internet suggests that the M.2 slot uses the SATA III interface and not the PCIe interface. So I am confused and have two questions for the forum

  1. Is it possible to have two different interface on an M.2 slot for the same model?
  2. The customer services also informed me that the maximum I can upgrade to is 512 GB. Is there any restriction regarding size that can go in an M.2 slot (with PCIe interface)?

PS: Attached is a screenshot of the crystal disk mark benchmark
