Max number of monitors on Y530 with GTX1050Ti?

2019-04-20, 16:32 PM

What is the maxinum number of monitors that can be connected to a Y530 (with GTX1050Ti)?

I has one HDMI socket, one mini DisplayPort and one USB-C (compatible with DisplayPort 1.2).

Does that mean 3 monitor (plus the built in panel) can work at the same time?

Definitely at least 2 through your HDMI and DisplayPort. Another one through USB-C will be a bit more iffy but should work. I believe the 1050ti can handle 3 monitors at once (possibly more depending on other factors), though some games will definitely not be compatible.

Answer is: Yes. 3 monitors (plus the built in panel) can work at the same time.

According to the Intel and nVidia control panel apps, the built-in LCD is driven by the Intel gfx, while the external monitors are by nVidia gfx card.

The monitors are connected by (same order as in pic): USB-C/DP , HDMI and (mini)DP cables

The left monitor is tilted because otherwise the cable did not reach...

See photos:

 - the 3 monitors plus the builtin, showing the ID number

 - the setting dialog showing all four of them (cut from the first photo and enhanced a bit for contrast...)

Hi,

I have exaactly the same configuration: Lenovo Y530 and 3 external monitors connected through:hdmi, display port and usb-c (usb-c 3.1 - display port cable)

The last connection usb-c does not work.

Two monitors are shining and laptop but third monitor is dark :-)

Is there a special setting which runs usb-c connection?

thanks a lot

I didn't do anything special. At least don't remember it. Try connecting only the USB-C external monitor, does it work then? Is it in the right port? The cable works with other monitors and laptops? Just guessing here...

Hi Xerces8,

You are my guru i must say.

I have a Lenovo Legion Y530 with GTX1060Ti card.

I bought 3 external montitors. Two of them works connected through hdmi and dp mini, however third monitor connected by usb c not.

I see on your pictures you managed to connected all three external monitors with laptop what gives you 4 including laptop.

I asked lenovo support and they gave me an answer saying that i can connect only two external monitors by hdmi and mini dp.

Can i ask you how did you run 3 external monitors on your laptop? What kind of devices did you use?

Thank you for an answer in advance

Thank you for an answer i did not see it previously. Maybe it is a cable, i will try to buy dedicated Lenovo usb-c - dp converter. Currently i have a simple usb-c - dp cable. It does not work.  I'm also wonderring why lenovo support told me it is possible to connect only 2 external monitors. It is confusing a bit. Thanks a lot
