No 60hz display option on the Lenovo Legion 5 AMD 144Hz panel

2020-09-17, 2:22 AM

I've read that most laptop with high refresh screens have an option to switch to 60Hz in the Display Adapter Properties setting. However, there is no such option on the Legion 5. This can most likely save A LOT of battery life so why is this not an option Lenovo?

Hi there TommyMusk,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Make sure you have updated all the display adapters for the display adapters. The discrete one as well as the integrated one.

You can download and install them from the Support Page.

Just plot in the serial number of the device and hit enter, might have to press it twice, then head to Drivers & Software then Display and Video Graphics

When it comes to power consumption. If we take the same monitor at 60hz vs 144 Hz, the consumption will of course be higher as the monitor simply has to do more work. This is not going to have any meaningful difference however, as going from 4k 60hz to 4k 144hz increases the power draw with about 5 watts. The monitor uses between 60 and 160 Watts depending on what you are doing. So in total, we are maybe looking at a 3-8% increase.

Hope this helps

Regards

Voithos

Hi there, thanks for help. Unfortunately, updating the drivers did not work. There were 3 drivers to update: Nvidia GFE, Nvidia VGA, and AMD VGA. When installing Nvidia VGA, it said that the drivers were older than the ones already installed, so I decided to not update. Are there any other fixes?
