Noob here. Struggling with Undervolt. It increased my temperature! (up to 10c)

2019-10-07, 21:50 PM

As it stands i have a successful undervolt of -125/-125. I have checked to see that it has applied.

Idle - temps are the same,

aida64 - CPU test - however went from 78-80 to around 72-73 mostly with a few tiny jumps. (this is the only test with improvement)

Aida64 fpu - runs hotter.

Aida64 FPU -w/Heaven - seeing up to 94-96c on starting them, was 90-91 before. After running for few minutes and fans have kicked on it now is in the upper 80s and was 83-85c before (though the core speeds were much lower the first time) (it thermal throttled in the middle of this though, it didn't the first time before undervolting)

Occt - hits close to 90c at the 5 minute mark, when it starts stressing it -- which is about 10c more than before. After fans have been on a bit it ends up being similar temps to before.

Real bench - hits 95 initially, which is the same as before, stays around in low 90s and continues to rise, whereas before it was at mid to high 80s that got hotter from there

I'm not even going to bother doing the other tests. Because obviously this isn't the desired effect of under volting.

I feel like i'm missing something.

I haven't touched any of the other settings, havent touched speed shift, havent touched bod prochot, or messed with TPL, as I don't understand any of them -- and figured it was best to just do the undervolt first.

Core temps were quite variable, some at 60, some at 70, some at 80 at certain points (at the same time)
Clock Speeds for some of these tests raised up to 3900mhz, but some of them were lower.

I am at a loss, and quite frustrated. Plz send halp.

Update : This evenings tests.

These are all package temps

Stock
--------------------------------------------------------------

Idle
Around 45c for about 15 minutes, it then jumped up to close to around 48c for a few minutes before dropping down to 40-43c for several minutes. It then went back to around 45c. This was package temp , many of the cores are around 43c

Stress Test
AIDA64 + Heaven - Performance Mode - Began at 90-95c. Jumped around 94-96c for a few minutes before dropping to mid/high 80's (Around 88c) Starting to hit 90c at the 6 minute mark. Only throttled at the beginning before the fans were in full force. At around 16 minutes temps are reaching 91-94 degrees. It begins to throttle, but ever so slightly, like an occasional 3%. Cores around 3500-3600 Began to throttle consistently at the 24 minute mark as temps are around 93-95c

GPU - 74 at end of test

The end of the stress test for both -155.0 and stock were very similar, but build up under stock was much cooler and slower on stock

Cinebench - Around 86-87c after fans kicked in. Test result - 2858

Prime 95 Blend - Short test. High 70's

Gaming
Metro Exodus - Ultra - Ray Tracing - 65c

-155.0
--------------------------------------------------------------

Idle
Around 46c. Jumps to 48c more frequently than on stock.

Stress Test
AIDA64 + Heaven - Performance Mode - Began at 90-95c. Did see 97c briefely after 6 minutes where the temps mostly stuck around mid 90's (93-95) Maintained these temps for 25 minutes. Likely due to throttling which was mostly around 22-24%. Cores at 3500-3999Mhz

GPU - 78 at end of test

Cinebench - Around 88c after fans kicked in. Test result - 3154

Prime 95 Blend - Short test. Low 80's

Gaming

Metro Exodus - Ultra - Ray Tracing - 75c
