Not full CPU/GPU power?

2021-06-07, 15:24 PM

Bought a legion 5 with RTX 3070 and AMD 5800H about a mounth ago and it's been working really good in graphic heavy games at max settings but when i play a game like League of Legends that is not too demanding it's fps lagging. I don't understand why and i have tried changing settings and googled the "error" but haven't found anything about it. So i am trying here.

Help?

Hello @Josh Legion 5,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you tried switching the machine from Hybrid mode to Discrete graphics?

This should allow the machine to use the Nvidia card while you are gaming.

You should be able to change the option in Lenovo Vantage or the BIOS of the machine.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Hello @Josh Legion 5,

Sorry for the late reply.

Can you try updating the display drivers from the support site?

You can download it using this link (please note that you may have to enter your serial number in order to get the right file): https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ph/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/legion-series/legion-5-pro-16ach6/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Graphics%20Processing%20Units%20%28GPU%29

Hello @Josh Legion 5,

Sorry for the late reply.

Would it be possible for you to post your FPS values in the games you play?

I would like to check how they match up with other benchmarks.

Regards,

Jack_Lenovo1

Here is the benchmarks for a few of the games i play. And i also forgot to say that i play on an external monitor in case that might have anything to do with it. The assassins creed benchmarks and fps is pretty much stable but League is unstable and multiple fps drops during fights and so on.

All games are on the highest settings exept that League has shadows off.

And all games are played on an external screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution and 144 Hz

Thank you.

There are games that actually load the CPU much more than the GPU and hence fps drops. I have a game like that called Kingdom Come Deliverance and it just drops fps all the time.

Have you checked how much CPU/GPU are being used in League when fps drops happen?

You can clearly see in the bottom graphs the FPS drops are happening every time the CPU use is spiking. This is the cause, either the game is causing that CPU spike or some other app that kicks up and causes the spike. This looks like a game specific issue.

In league i have not seen the CPU go over 85% and the GPU is as low as 20-25%
