PC sounds goes through mic on discord

2019-03-08, 22:43 PM

I bought Lenovo Legion Y520 15IKBN 6-7 months ago. I have this problem since I got it. I contacted live support multiple times but couldn't find a solution. My computer sounds goes through the microphone on discord.

I'm using Logitech G231 and It has only one jack.

Realtek Version:

Turn down mic sensitivity to 80 and give yourself a dB boost instead.

The mic is inside the computer, so if it's too sensitive it'll pick up the computer noise. If you need more volume when you turn the sensitivity down, simply give yourself +10 or +20 db boost. For my 720, i have it at 83 sensitivity and +20 db. I also tweak the sound within every application I use it in.

Let me know what happens.

My first post was mistaken and deleted it.

Make sure that in your input settings you don't have it as "stereo mix" or something of that nature. Make sure your mic is selected. Another way to do it will be to right click your sound icon in the taskbar, click sounds go to recording, then disable anything that isn't your mic, such as "Stereo Mix".

Let me know what happens.

When I plug in the headset, the laptop sees the microphone and headset microphone as a single microphone. I tried everything and the problem still continues. Stereo mix is disabled btw.

Try reinstalling discord. Also, check for newer audio drivers you can install.

Discord shouldn't be doing this since it knows how to differentiate between mic and system audio. Reinstalling might fix it. Push comes to shove, reset Windows, though I guess it would be a tad extreme for this simple issue.

Try using another voice chat software, like teamspeak, and see if the issue is there too.

Formatted the computer? As in basically reinstalling Windows?

In your realtek settings, try to enable the "Acoustic Echo Cancellation" option. In your Microphone settings through Windows, make sure to check "Allow applications to take exclusive control".

Also, does the problem persist with headphones on or off?

Yes, I reinstalled the windows. I tried every settings but still same. This doesn't occur when the headset is not plugged in. I'm sure the problem isn't on the headset because I tried it on another computer.

I think it can solve my problem, but I don't want to buy it.

Yes, I see. The problem is likely with your driver and Discord not being very compatible. When your headphones are plugged in, the driver isn't doing what Discord wants it to. If possible, try getting a driver other than the realtek one and see how that goes.

That usb to mic thing might work, but it's no guarantee. The driver may or may not act the same way when plugged in through a usb port. Best bet would be to simply not use headphones, get an external mic, or change out those drivers. You can also try going to device manager and try to install the Windows Generic Audio Drivers.

A friend of mine has the same computer and he has the same problem. He solved the problem with the USB Sound card. I really tried everything that comes to mind, but my problem isn't solved.
