Re:RGB keyboard software for Lenovo Legion creator 7i

2021-01-27, 18:02 PM

Hello,

I've had an answer and I'm afraid I don't have such good news. This was my last answer from support.

Dear Mr. Vansteelandt,

The answer has been delayed because some research has been done. It seems that there was indeed a mistake on the Lenovo.com website.

I recommend that you contact the supplier. When the laptop was purchased through the Lenovo.com website is
the supplier Digital River. The customer service telephone number is 078-480253 (option 2).

You can indicate to customer service that you made the purchase based on the wrong specs on the website. Customer service
will then offer a suitable solution.

Sincerely,

Peter
Lenovo customer service
Hope this will make it clear.

With kind regards,

Indeed, that doesn't smell good.

Now, the support ask my to uninstall the Icue software. I guess in the next message they say, "Voila, you are reach the full power of your laptop...."

So, its official than… no iCUE support for the RGB keyboard for the green Legion Creator 7i, very disappointing and so unlogic to strip out such an important future on this I thought premium laptop.

It also seems Lenovo or I should say “Digital River” has switched off customers reviews on the Legion Creator 7i page were on the normal Legion 7i page this is not the case! (see picture).

Maybe they do not want customers writing and complaining about that the Legion Creator 7i has no iCUE support for the RGB keyboard and in doing so preventing new customers reading about this flaw and in consequence only selling the grey non “Creator” version of the Legion 7i.

I will give “Digital River” soon a call about the misleading advertising with wrong / misleading specs on the Legion Creator 7i and wonder what the meaning of a ‘’ suitable solution” will be…

Re:RGB keyboard software for Lenovo Legion creator 7i

Hi everyone

I contacted premium care support and they told me it was not in their scope (not a warranty subject) and that they could not do anything at their level.

So I contacted again customer service by phone, the person told me premium care support should have answered this, but nevertheless he asked them himself.

His answer gives me a little hope, according to the information he got, the issue is taken into account, they are working on it to provide necessary information to Corsair and he confirms we will get a Corsair iCUE update handling Legion Creator 7i.

But again, he was not able to give me a target date, it can be in 1 day, 1 week or 1 month, maybe even more.

I will contact them again in some time (2-3 weeks) to try to get news on this.

Re:RGB keyboard software for Lenovo Legion creator 7i

HELLO,

I bought in november a Lenovo Legion 7 creator, I have the same problem. I'm working in very dark environment and I need an inlighted keyboard, but very darker than the preprogrammed options. I tryed with Corsair ICUE software, but it doesn't regnize my keyboard.

I'm not surprise that Lenovo don't offer any solutions, there services are so terrible. I ordered a computur with two SSD, they delivered with only one, I'm waiting for three month the second one.

Three month to post a SSD, how long to devellop a driver?

Re:RGB keyboard software for Lenovo Legion creator 7i

In follow up of my earlier post about contacting Digital River to find out the meaning of a “suitable solution” this was of course as expected disappointing.

The only solution was to send the laptop back for a refund but normal this is only possible within 14 days after purchase and I have the Creator 7i since November 2020. Because of the misleading advertising it was by exception possible to get a refund, but I needed to first get a from Lenovo technical support a “form” stating that there is no iCUE support for the Creator 7i. After calling Lenovo technical support I was told that thy do not know of such “form” but that thy can make a ticket and that maybe should be enough for Digital River... Now I could start the process of calling Digital River again and provide them the ticket number / email I get from Lenovo technical support, but I am tired of this whole ballgame that Lenovo and Digital river play with their customers. I am sure sending back the laptop will be many troubles and not sure if thy will full refund the additional warranty services and I do not want to find out this the hard way.

Very small chance that Lenovo will make a Legion creator 7i driver for iCUE. This week after many months misleading advertising the Legion Creator 7i on at least the Dutch Lenovo website they suddenly silently and sneaky removed the iCUE tekst for the Creator version, see screenshots before and after.

It is a very dirty game played here.
