SOLVED - Mouse disabled when gaming

EDIT 2: I fixed this by going to Lenovo Vantage module > Input > set the touchpad lock to Off

I had it set to On originally, as I understood it was only applicable if I had a physical mouse plugged in.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't have a usb mouse connected. The mouse I'm referring to in the post below, is the trackpad mouse. I'm unable to play the game because of this. Thanks for any assistance.

Have had this Lenovo Y740 for less than a week & really like it.

I only have one game installed, Guild Wars 2, & have only logged in a couple of times to see how beautiful it is.

Today, almost immediately after I log in, an icon appears that looks like a track pad with a bar through it & then my mouse is automatically disabled. I've tried several times now, with the same results. I have to Ctrl Alt Del out of it to log out.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I did have an automatic Windows update earlier this morning.

Any advice appreciated.

Re: SOLVED - Mouse disabled when gaming

Hi Pat527!

Welcome to the Lenovo forum discussion!

You can check out the Function keys on the keyboard of the laptop and try enabling the touchpad using the Fn+F6. In addition, kindly open the Lenovo vantage app https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505081?CID=ww:lenovosocial:20x9m6 and check for a system update, then the laptop again. Update us back with the outcome.

Regards!

Re: SOLVED - Mouse disabled when gaming

Hi Chris,

I'm sorry, I guess my original post is a bit confusing there. Smiley Sad

Actually, I solved the problem as stated in my 2nd. Edit.

Both the touchpad & the mouse have worked fine in game ever since then, with the fix which I described.

Thanks though for the reply. I'm completely satisfied with & really enjoying this laptop.

All the best. o/
