Yet the subject says it all, but I was wondering if I should unplug my Y73O's adapter after hitting a 100% charged battery as to preserve it as long as possible?

For max battery lifetime, it's best not to have your battery fully charged. If you have Lenovo Vantage, there is an option called "Battery conservation mode" which causes your battery not to charge over 60% while plugged in. Don't forget to turn it off though if you want to take your laptop somewhere and you need a full battery.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
In addition, you may now be able to keep the laptop plugged in even if it reaches 100%.
As shown in the hardware manual (page 22), nowadays firmwares are designed to avoid overcharging.
"Battery charging does not start until the Power Meter shows that less than 95% of the total power remains; under this condition the battery pack can charge to 100% of its capacity. This protects the battery pack from being overcharged or from having a shortened life."
With appropriate power surge protectors, the laptop goes to direct ac mode and is no longer using the battery thus not using its recharge cycles extending more life to it. The firmware set to the machine do not allow charging until 95% down even if battery saver are not enabled.
Other ways to extend battery life are listed on this article.
I hope this helps answer your query.
