Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

Going to an earlier bios means you are not loose some fixes.

Lenovo should just delete that logo that looks like vomit.

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

I managed to return the old version of logo on laptop 700-17ISK.

I have prepared a file logo.bmp and flashed the BIOS using the BIOS update this file

batch file for flashing the BIOS of the laptop is 700-17ISK

WinFlash64 /file E5CN56WW.cap /cvar /bbl /bcp /sd /sn /silent /cac /cbp 30 /shutdown /logo logo.bmp

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

Although HIGHLY unsupported, I'm marking murzik's fix as the solution.

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

Murzik's solution is for the Ideapad 700 (without the Y, not a "gaming" laptop), which has a different BIOS (TianoCore-based), flashed with a different tool.

The Y700 has an Insyde BIOS. The logo cannot be changed this way. This should not be marked as a solution.

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

Hi murzik,

would you mind to explain how to do the process?, how can you to put the logo.bmp in one of the files that comes to upload the BIOS? I hate the colorful logo and wish to change it so much but I just don't know how, it will be nice any help,

Thanks

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

The disgusting logo appeared on the -ISK version some time ago already.

Not sure for the -ACZ version but if you wanted to change it on the -ISK, you'd have to modify the BIOS image but then to flash it you'd have to use a hardware EEPROM programmer to bypass signature check, so it's not really straightforward. Other than that, you can downgrade to the previous BIOS version.

One thing you can do is post in the thread I created about this. If enough people do it, Lenovo will pay attention. The link is below:

Re: UGLY logo new BIOS y700

Yes, I'd also like to know the detailed procedure. I can't seem to figure out how to insert the old logo file into the most recent bios update installer. Some help would be much appreciated!

"I can't seem to figure out how to insert the old logo file into the most recent bios update installer."

Unfortunately it can't be done this way. When you run the flash utility, it doesn't actually flash anything, it just copies the .FD file to the EFI partition and reboots the system. The flashing is then done from within the BIOS itself.

The logo is stored in the .FD file and can probably be changed with an UEFI BIOS editor but the new file will then fail the signature check and get rejected.
