Y530 i7-8750H 3/6 cores hotter than others

2019-04-02, 13:50 PM

HI,
i am facing a weird problem that my cpu's core 0, 2, 4 are hotter than core 1, 3, 5.
I never notice it until i see it usually jump crazy to 57 - 63C while i am browsing web then back to 47C (i don't have any background using cpu except Chrome).

For more detail:
I undervolted -0.14mV and lock CPU freq to 3.2ghz
CPU: I7-8750H
RAM: 16GB
GPU: GTX-1050

Do anyone facing same problem? And is it normal?
I also repasted it many times but it doesn't help.

Nothing is wrong with your PC and 57 - 63C isn't crazy as it takes one Flash CPU hoge video on a page to hike the temps.

You have nothing to fear. It is normal. Not all cores are used the same, usage is based on what you are doing. Look at the speeds and usage those cores that are hotter aren't they used more than the others ?

Your laptop decides what core, how many of them, what frequency they work based on what you are doing.

I solved this uneven core heating issue with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. I tried repasting with Artic Silver 5 many times, but the thermals were uneven. Finally, I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, pasted both the CPU and the heatsink, let it dry for 15 minutes, then re-assembled. This solved the uneven temp issue.

The problem is that the Y530 heat sink does not seat perfectly flat on the CPU die, either because the heat sink is no flat, or because the mounting screws do not apply even pressure accross the heat sink. The Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is a thicker consistency than the Artic Silver 5 and because it is thicker it appears to work much better on the Y530.

Yes, it must be heat sink not seat with cpu, i solved my problem by adding a copper shim between heatsink and cpu. Now my cores temp is balance, they just lower or higher than each other around 5C
