Is not that easy in y700 to access the display cable. Look up for the disassembly manual, almost all pieces have to be disarmed.

Thanks, that's actually useful advice. If it's not easily accessible, then it's not worth opening. I wouldnt even attempt to disassemble more than back lid.

Re: Y700-17 flickering screen

Hi i'm new user lenovo and have still problem with flickering screen. In this Wednesday i got my notebook and 1 day is ok, i haven't problem, next day when tested during the game Battelfield 4 in 6 hour i can't see flickering, in bios this same(in 2h) but when i play in Atlantica Online(this is old mmo game from 2008) in window and 2 clients run in this same time i have flickering screen but after 1hour and then they are able to blink in other cases after some time. Even little time testing it, I have Windows 10 installed the drivers from the manufacturer. I do not think I dream of replacement with a different model because of such parameters nowhere to get for the price 3700zł(about 1000USD) and in addition 17.3 Monitor. When you normally use for internet or movies, then I do not see filckers.

Sry for my bad english

Hi olszlam, sorry to hear that you faced same problem we all have. There is no solution to it yet and it seems that Lenovo doesn't care about it at all. So my personal advice to you is contact Service Center and if they unable to fix it go with money refund. Yes, you won't buy similar laptop from other manufacturer with same amount of money, but if you add $200-300 it's possible.

What do you suggest Lenovo should do such that you can judge they care? Replace all laptopa for free? They cant fix that laptop without him bringing It to service depot.  They also saved a lot of money by using **bleep**ty cheap connector if it fails in one of hundred laptops why shouldn't they do it in all models? What you are going to do about it if all other options on the market save money by using the same exact **bleep**ty connectors ? Gonna buy other cheap laptop and have same issue ? I would see suggest to buy extended warranty.

At least they can show their interest and support to the customers by posting in this topic, like they did in this one https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/SOLUTION-Lenovo-Y50-70-flickering-screen/m-p/2157876 And if they had problems with this connector in the past, they can inform customers and engineers in Service center about the issue. When I brought my laptop to the Service Center they had no idea on what can cause the problem. So this is why I think that they don't care. And why I need their extended warranty if it doesn't work in my country?

I had similar issue in other brand my point is why should they care when other brands are at least as bad? Using cheap components they can sell at competitive price I think. Maybe avenues from sells are higher than actually raising price a bit to make hardware proper way and more durable? Just guessing, people care about price most. Shame I fooled myself as well as I have the same laptop.

There is a point in your words that other brands can have same issue, but I don't think that this can justify silence on the part of Lenovo ) And yes, you're right about the price, although I bought Lenovo not only because of the price, I would love to have Toshiba laptop with same characteristics (my 5 y.o. Toshiba is still working fine), but there no such model. In addition I'm quite happy with other Lenovo products I and members of my family own - smartphones, tablets, monitors... But now, knowing that this issue is very common an known by the manufacturer, I feel myself fooled as well...
