I've been having a problem for the past couple of weeks where the keyboard suddenly becomes completely unresponsive. It doesn't seem to happen often, but the only way to fix it is restart my computer, which is very annoying. After looking at Event Viewer, it seems this event (Event ID 13) is relevant:
" The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly."
Any fix for this?
EDIT: Looking around for a bit it seems it's not an all too uncommon issue. Hardware problems?

Hi there, Kristina -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
This can be cause by incorrect BIOS settings, outdated drivers/firmware and even mismatched or loose RAM.
I would try updating the following drivers/firmware
Update to Latest BIOS from Lenovo (version: CDCN35WW dated 4/6/2016)
Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI) Drive (vesion: 220.127.116.11-20150824 dated: 2/3/2016)
Latest Intel Chipset Drivers and Management Engine drives. (version:18.104.22.1688 dated: 10/22/2015)
Reset BIOS settings to defaults
Update us how it goes.
Tap that kudos button if I helped

I have updated chipset and BIOS, and I can't recall having any issues with the keyboard again - but I may be misremembering. It has never been something that has happened often

So, i own this notebook and have the same problem. I installed the latest versionf of BIOS from official Lenovo, but problem is not solved. Keyboard is switched off without any reasons and i can only reboot notebook with startbutton. I found many information about this problem with Y700-15 ISK at meny forums in th Net. So i guess that is typical problem for this model. May be problem is in drivers or Lenovo software.
The printscreen with my version of software is below.
I hope, that can be solved in the next version of software.
