Y700 SSD Boot

2015-12-28, 14:59 PM

I just got a Y700 with 128GB SSD an 1 TB sloooow HHD and was surprised that Lenovo installed Windows on the HHD and not the SSD.  What's the easiest way to remedy this?  So far not impressed with this machine it is so much slower than the  yr old machine its replacing.

The ssd based on your statement is use as a cache to speedup the hdd a little. If you want the ssd to be the primary drive you might be able to do that but you will mess up the present setup to the extent of losing the OKR feature. Other problems might be encountered after the modification.

Well, dowloaded an ISO of Window's 10 and installed it on the SSD with what was the Windows partition now for general files.  So much faster. Only this is that the one key restore is not compatible.  I can live with that.

After the installation you can make a recovery flash drive from Windows which will serve as the reinstaller/installer of the OS instead of OneKey recovery.

Re: Y700 SSD Boot

I just got a y700 with a 256ssd/1tb hd.  I don't want to completely wipe the drive and instal a fresh version of win10 on the ssd as primary until after I back up the system.  does the OKR backup disc make a factory restore with all the original partitions?  if the okr disc doesn't do this what can I use to do it?   I am also contemplating going to a 1tb drive and 512 ssd.  How can I keep a backup of the original partitions, okr, and factory instal of win 10?

thanks in adv.
