So I just got my Y700 Ideapad 2 months ago and it was working perfectly, but yesterday suddenly I tried to wake up the laptop after it was in the sleep mood, and the display didnt come up, everything was working right except for having nothing but a black screen on the display, i tried a hard restart, and nothing changed, same problem for having nothing on the screen while keyboard and everything else is working right, I tried connecting it to an extra monitor and it works fine, even the touch on my laptop screen is working but still my laptop screen is black.
I restarted it for many times, tried to plug and unplug the power and nothing changes.
Can anyone help please?

Thanks for your quick response.
I wasn't able to update the BIOS because I have the latest version already, and when I tried to this message appeared " The version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS. " and I don't know if there is anyway It can be forced to update or something?
I appreciate your help, Thank you very much.

Hi there. It's a common known issue with this model, the screen issue with blinking and dead monitor. It's a hardware problem as it was solved in a older post((( As for me I have the same model and I'd been using it mostly as a standalone PC, extremelly rarely closing the lid, but another users who used it as a regular laptop experienced that issue with the screen. So there is no software / bios hack to fix it, if it's happened, it's better to replace it as you have a warranty.

Thanks for your replay.
I believe its a hardware issue as well and I am planning to send it back since it still has a warranty, but the problem is I bought it from the USA and now I am in Saudi Arabia, and I have to wait till Sunday to see if my warranty is accepted here.
Its a strange issue and the fact that the touch on screen is still working makes it confusing.

As fo me I've also obtained it in the USA, but now I reside in Thailand, and the warranty is considred to be international, so you can contact an authorised service center, and they can help you to resolve this issue. But as I think they will offer you to fix it (as I read before they attach the screen hindge connector back properly (but it doesn't resolve the problem completely, as after some time of using laptop (opening and closing lid) it will be detached again because of laptop assembly construction) So you can try to fix it, and if the issue still persist you should consider to replace it, but I doubt that another same model will be without this issue.
And touch screen is another layer of the screen, so it could work, when the display is compleately dead.
I'm using my laptop for almost 11 months, and as i closed the lid for a couple of times, the display is still ok, but I still experience the blinking issue, which comes from the same hardware problem. Unfortunately Lenovo keeps silent about this and never gives any reasonable feedback and don't make any actions or solutions how to fix it compleately in their authorised services((( I like Lenovo products, and I'm very loyal to their company, but this problems and their inaction make me feel very unsure about them as a buyer when I'll consider to get a new product from them(((

I actually got this laptop cause I am a designer and I need a powerful device to work on in anywhere, and knowing that I cant use it as a laptop while it is a laptop is really stupid! And this will make me consider not using lenovo products in the future if they are not going to solve this problem completely.
Anyway the authorised service center here opens tomorrow so I will go see what they provide me as a solution.

Yes, I understand you clearly. It must be used as it is, but unfortunately this problem makes it unusable and you feel really crazy about it. Yes, you should visit their authorised service center and as I mentioned before, they can try to fix it, and after you can check if the problem will still persist, you should consider to replace the laptop as you cannot use it as its primary directive. Anyway keep me posted here about results, so I'll be akcnowledged what to do in case I'll get this isuue some day. Maybe I'll consider to obtain 1 more year warranty online for this laptop if the service really works.

So what happened is this, the authorised center said that my warranty isn't accepted here, so I contacted Lenovo in the USA and they said the same! Even tho it's written that the warranty is international, it is not! Its only accepted in USA and Canada, thats what lenovo told me! So don't think of renewing yours unless you are going back to USA.
And they didn't tell me what the problem was, they needed to check first and they texted me that the reparing will cost 500usd!
I will take it back, wont let them fool me and fix it with such a price, and I will consider shipping it to the USA to get it fixed there.
Anyhow, never using or dealing with lenovo again.

OMG. Yap, they are really tricky!!!
500 bucks, for what, are they insane???
They made an problem laprop model as everybody had issues with screen, they even don't want to accept to claim it back for their expense, and now they even don't want to help to resolve this.
It's obvious Lenovo cannot be trusted at all now.
Yes, if you consider going to USA, I would advice you to refund it compleately, not to fix it if Lenovo does this **bleep**.
I will spread my word about Lenovo "best service" and wrong tricky information about their warranty, they way they mess up with their customers.
I'm sure with this kind of service they won't stand for a long.
