I bought my lenovo legion y520 without the addition of ssd to it so it has a 1tb hdd, but for some reason when i recieved it, it has 700 gb used, i understand that there are programs that need a big capacity, i dont mind, what i want to know is, is it possible to add another hdd or ssd to my laptop? And if so, how?
I opened my laptop up and was looking for another hdd/ssd slot and i couldnt find one.

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.
Legion Y520 has an optional M.2 slot with it for secondary storage, you can see the below image for reference for M.2 slot
If this slot is nolt available in your system then there is no other option for adding an additional storage to your system
I hope the above information helped you.

that slot is used for what type of storage device exactly? a hdd or ssd?
It's an M.2 NVMe SSD card, there are variants of M.2 cards in sizes like 2242 - 22mm wide, 42mm long, 2280 - 22mm wide, 80mm long.

Something's wrong. How can a new laptop have 700GB used?
What is going on with that HDD

Can you please post some screenshots of the Disk Management in Control Panel > Administrative Tools?
Also, check which folder in the drive is using all that space. Usualy a new laptop has more than 900GB available. Windows takes about 25GB after install + some other programs and drivers.

Ok i found this file hidden in my c drive, the rest of the files added up to about 250 gb so it didnt make sense, im not sure if i should delete this

I believe it should be safe to delete, like the name says. I see no reason why a file should be that size.
