Re:lenovo y740 screen flickering after driver update

Yeah. Ethically, they should fix my problem no matter what. Because that's their fault to deliver faulty machine in the first place. I don't think they provide such 2 year warranty here. Now my screen flickering has stopped after I update GPU drivers through windows update. But now my keyboard lights flickering after moving the lid. Any idea what might be causing this?

Is your BIOS up-to-date? It seems like that could be the problem

No.. there is a cracking sound in the left hinge. I just tried giving a bit of pressure on the hinge side, and the flickering went away. It seems there is a loose connection in the cable or somewhere inside.

Re:lenovo y740 screen flickering after driver update

I remember one of my tech-savy friends told me that the flickering and glitches thing had probably to be caused by a cable.. He told me the name of the cable and all but I don't remember now.

When the guys from the reparing center told me they were waiting to get a new screen and later on even a new motherboard....I just wondered how was it that some people in this forum were able to fix the problem without needing all what the repairing center was telling me...I was just confused.

Before sending it with the warranty I tried everything people suggested, updating, unistalling, re-installing the BIOS, the graphic card,...and nothing. The flickering started to happen even more often than before.

I'm so glad I got my money back...what a joke.

Hope you can get it really fixed!

Testing everything that people suggest has a diminishing return. Especially, when you keep updating drivers. Windows is a total mess in a way because there is no proper integration actually. I wish I'd requested for refund the very first time the hinge produced cracking noise. I was blinded by the fact that I got my first gaming laptop. Also, I had waited 6 months to get it delivered after so much hustle with the lenovo support team. If they fix it at my home, then it's good as it's under warranty. Anyway, thanks for letting me know about your issue. I'll keep that in mind.

Hmm. I just updated my Bios. And then it started flickering again. It helped me turning on hybrid mode before, but now it's on. So this time I turned it off, and that helped too. So I don't know what it is, but triggering the "hybrid mode" in Lenovo Vantage seems to help.
