removal of battery

2018-07-17, 20:48 PM

so 20 minutes ago my lenovo legion y520 just turned off in the middle of watching a show on netflix (not doing anything demanding) and wont turn back on. have had the laptop for more than 6 months and havent had this problem before. played games earlier today and had no fps issues. to the point, i think as with many laptops sometimesnsruff just happens and i was gonna go to take out the battery and put it back in but saw that it is built in. my question is can i still do it or will it warp my warranty, and if so i think thats a stupid and ugly thing to do to your customers, forcing them to be without their computer for a couple of weeks cuz you built in the battery...

Hi ercli,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can open and reseat the battery without voiding the warranty as long as no parts gets damage during the process. Following the steps are provided for customer here in the hardware manual.

You are not require to do it as you may simply call in technical support for assistance at anytime. They would be able to investigate further is this is more than just a battery issue specially if the machine would not turn on with connected ac charger and no display even on external monitor.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards
