removing nvidia telemetry / installing driver only option

2018-07-04, 23:17 PM

Telemetry - an ugly word in recent times.

Anyway - the objective of this post is for anyone who is interested in removing nvidia's telemetry function.

For what it's worth - nvidia's telemetry has been structured in a way where its contained and transparent hence the reletive ease in removing it.

telemetry of course is useful but for anyone whois in a unique bind of perhaps having a metered connection this is a fix.

This was from the nvidia forum and I've tested this on my machine before sharing.

After installing any driver update - run the following on an elevated cmd/powershell command.

rundll32 "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\InstallerCore\NVI2.DLL",UninstallPackage NvTelemetryContainer

This uninstalls the telemetry componenent which is also known as the geforce game rdy thing...... and therefore you're left with the pure drivers.

ofcourse there are other routes but i find this to be the easiest/cleanest path.
