I have just received a new Y700 17in with 128 m.2 SSD and 1th HDD. I see a lot of questions regarding m.2 ssd replacement but is it possible to also replace the 1TB HDD with sata SSD on lenovo laptops?, ie, have 2 SSD's? I don't see an issue as I have this on my Toshiba but seems be no documentation or questions about this so just wondering if there would be potential conficts?

Hi ws007 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
With the proper HDD caddy , your model would be able to accomodate same SSD SATA III as it would with the HDD.
SInce most likely you have both SSD and caddy from the other machine (universal design) then it would be worth a try .
Update us how things go .

As expected, it was no issue. I replaced the HDD with Samsung SSD 850 Pro 1TB without issue although I also replaced the 128 mb m.2 ssd with a 256gb sata 850 EVO because Samsung only sells the 950 pro and 960 pro in Australia and given that they are not fully supported and have a few issues I decided to take the supported albeit slower ssd.
