Probably your laptop is overheating. I sold mine because I got upset with that cooling system... Nothing worked, not even arctic mx 4 compound... Cooling tab under laptop doesnt help much too. Fps dropped even playing cs:go from time to time.

Guys, can someone advice whether I need the cable (USB C male to DP 1.2 Male) or one has to be female? I have same PC config, but 2k monitor 144hz.

Thanks guys.

I have a usb c male to DisplayPort 1.2 female and then I connect a DisplayPort cable that came with my monitor.

If I look at the spreadsheet it says it has support for DisplayPort 1.2 (it says: one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 / DP 1.2) so bandwidth is normally not a problem. But a 2k monitor is to much for a 1050ti and definitely 144hz with it.

What is your laptop and gpu?

The question is probably whether my graphics card gtx 1050 can output through USB C male to DP 1.2 female more bandwith than the current HDMI 1.4 output does. This Hdmi version doesnňt support enough bandwith, but I am not sure it is because of GPU limitations or because they configured laptop in such way.
I dont need gaming though (especially 1440 at 140hz) , just higher resfresh rate in general, HDR if that will work. I noticed lagging when playing 2k videos for example, but I attribute it for HDMI1.4, not GPU.

PSA: HDMI Cables limit to 60Hz regardless how good the monitor : GlobalOffensive

HDMI 1.4 isn't enough, it has a bandwidth of 10.2Gbps (if I'm correct), you can see on the picture that it probably only goes up to 75hz on 1440p. The lagging can be a network limitation or your monitor was set on a low refresh rate (if you mean overall lag). I don't know if a usb c cable to DisplayPort works, I have an adaptor. https://www.club-3d.com/en/detail/2350/usb_3.2_gen1_type_c_to_displayport_1.2_4k60hz/

I don't know about HDR, it will need more bandwidth but I don't know how much.

I am unsure about network limitation - it is average Wifi but usually there is no problem with internet bandwith. Also downloaded 2k movies aren't smooth, unfortunately.
I should be able to do 75 hz but in my setup it 60hz is highest unfortunately. If it is HDMI port that has limitation then USB C adapter to DP will work better, if it is max output by GPU then I lost money on more cables :D.
Direct DP cable from source USB C to monitor does not work (I tried), I need adapter like you.. 3.1 version should be enough, as I wont be able to go higher with bandwidth looking at my specs. I ordered USB C to DP adapter, and classic DP 1.2 cable as well.
